If Ashlee Simpson worked as Roxie - I don't see why Kelly won't work in a smaller role like Mama. Ashley was very young for Roxie, remember it was created by and for 50 year old Gwen Verdon. But Ashlee still managed to grasp the role. I think Kelly will be okay - regardless of her age.

Kinda true, but Roxie's age is possibly more flexible. The character seems in her 20s at the most (to me at least). Gwen Verdon had so much "youthful" talent, more than enough to pull it off, and made her character kinda ageless.

Morton is supposed to be running a women's prison. Being 22 (and looking even younger) is gonna be hard to swallow...

Osbourne definitely has the looks for it, from those pictures I would be scared of her being Mama Morton. She isn't a "matron" though, too young for that but actually if they had cast a young Roxie and Velma (a la Ashley Simpson), this could work better. Either way, it's not as bad as I thought it would be, I'm really loving the publicity shots.
Also, keep in mind that CHICAGO is a very stylized sort of metaphorical production, it's not like the original run when they were a bit more literal (in terms of costumes and sets) so that's why they can cast younger people in the roles and be less strict about it.

SHe has an infamously rough live voice, I wonder if she can pull the vocals off--especailly since the role, at least for me, always seemed to be one of the chicago ones that really needed a singer. Still, it's certainly not the worst piece of stunt casting this production of Chicago has seen by any stretch

She looks good, but she hasn't lost all that much weight. That corset thing does that to you.

I'm scared for it, to be honest. She's just too young.

It's so sad that such a great show has turned into an ego-booster for celebrities who want to do theater. But in a way it's good b/c it give them a place to go... if only they wouldn't leak into other shows...

I don't think Chicago would still be running if it weren't for the stunt casting.
I don't think age is too big a thing in this show, it is a prison where the murderers, lawyers and everyone else sing and dance.
