She's a fierce Ursula.
That first picture of her in the series is totally cute, love that she's rocking the Die Vampire, Die sweatshirt throughout and her press picture is totally cute.

1. Fierce
A term that gay men used in the late 1990s and early 2000s to describe absolutely everything that was of "exceptional quality".
How was that circuit party?
Oh my god, it was fierce.

I wish I could see Heidi as Ursula, despite the fact that I know next to nothing about [tos]. I really enjoyed Mermaid, which was actually my first Broadway show, and I just wasn't sold on Sherie Rene Scott's Ursula. She's obviously really talented, but I felt like she was miscast.
I thought Heidi might make a good Ursula, though-- she's got those eyebrows and lips that are perfect for a villain.

I'm with Evie - the photo looks like a drag queen.
Actually, Urusula SHOULD be played by a drag queen.

I don't like the changes to the wig, I think the way they curl it now makes it seem too fake and stiff. The way they started off doing it was really cool. I don't understand why they're taking away so much make-up too. To me, it just looks weird how she has that blue skin suit thing, and then a white face.
But Heidi is absolutely cramazing.

Posted: 2/14/09 at 1:18amI saw the show tonight. She was incredible! The whole show was such a joy. It made me feel like I was a little kid again. Also, I was surprised to see that the children of the audience were more well behaved than the adults. Anyway, Heidi was fantastic. She really adds her own "charm" to the role. Go see her if you can get the chance!

Posted: 2/14/09 at 1:27amI was there too and definitely agree about the behavior. It was m first Disney show so I expected the kids talking, which I got some of. But what really bothered me more than that was the talking and disinterest from their parents or couples that went to see it. If you don't like a show, that's fine. You don't have to look absolutely thrilled. But the mom and dad to my left brought their daughter, who was silent the entire time, yet the father was fidgeting, moving seats, looking through their bags of touristy crap, etc. And I counted at least four couples that were just making out/talking to each other the ENTIRE show. To me if you are that bored, leave at intermission. Either way, Heidi tore that role up and the moment she came out I jumped to my feet and gave her a standing ovation. Which was strange because no one else that I could see did, not even immediately after when Sierra Boggess came out. Strangeness. And yes, I know the whole thing about standing ovations becoming too commonplace and some believing it's not deserved, but even if the show itself isn't the best, I thought both of these actors deserved it.

Saw the show tonight specifically to see Heidi and was NOT disappointed.
Although the word was way overused, I'm going to reinstate the use of "fierce" in this instance to describe her performance.
Absolutely sublime. Her singing was perfection and she relished every note she got. Her acting was spot-on and she seemed to grasp every nuance she could to make Ursula the most likable character on the stage. For her bow (the second to last) she had an instant standing-O.
What a fabulous, fabulous talent. Here's hoping that she returns to the show some time in the future or books something else to showcase her fierce-ness!
The show in general:
I will honestly say I didn't have that many problems with the book. The exclusion of Vanessa (Ursula) for technical reasons, the transformation and subsequent ending changes were a let-down, but did not kill it for me.
The songs were strong throughout the first act but began to decline as the second progressed. The "If Only" quartet was a nice idea but badly executed leaving most of the lyrics lost in the overlay. I simply could not connect with the new songs in the second act which made the reprises (specifically Heidi's) standout all the more.
This could have been a great production if they had fired the set designer and banished her back to bong designing, kept the fabulous make-up (the flourescent orange under the Eels eyes was such a cool effect) and re-did the costumes.
I didn't know if I should have enjoyed the set or re-filled it with bong water, smoked it and watched Yo-Gaba-Gaba.

broadway.com captions are so stupid.
"Heidi seems to be enjoying playing blank canvas at the moment"
"The usually chatty star has a quiet moment of contemplation"
"Are you ready for the wiggiest wig on Broadway?"
Who writes these? I would like to find this person and punch them. They read like an 89 year old man speaking. Poor Heidi. She deserves better captions. I'll write your for you captions Heidi.
She looks so awesome. Wish I could see her. [tos] better come back so I can come see her. And Susan, Hunter and Jeff. Gosh I love them. I wish they were my friends.
