^^I think it would have been announced by now. Maybe Lopez returns?? or Martin comes back to close out the show for the final 3-4weeks??
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
He was out with injuries when I saw it last fall, so I never got to experience him in person. There was Florian Zumkehr in at that time and he was a little hotty - according to his facebook he is currently on tour right now in Dubai. He's the one balancing up in the air in this recent pic.
It's something Roger says on American Dad. I don't think he really looks like one.
I'm just saying, I don't understand everyone's sudden obsession with this guy from the Voice and thinking he's all wrong for the role. It's not like this is the first time we've had stunt casting go wrong. Usher in Chicago? I just don't get why you all are being so unabashedly rude to him, and why you're all swooning over the guys in Pippin anyway. But whatevs.
As I said before, I was standing in the TKTS line and every tourist seemed to be totally confused and turned off by Pippin. They didn't understand what it was about, and then when it was explained, they didn't seem interested. I don't blame them. I found my mind wandering during most of the show. It's not terrible or anything, but I just didn't get taken by it like a lot of you. The farm animal scene just seemed so odd, and I didn't love the tunes, and thought Miller wasn't all that great (that stage voice, wtf?). But to each their own. I'm glad it had a healthy run as it was a risky endeavor in the first place, so maybe this will lead to more risky things on B'way. Like The Visit.
Putting THE VISIT is a ballsy move, as even with Chita I have a hard time believing it will sell. Its a show with a lot of problems, and I heard from the previous incarnation that there's still alot that needs to be worked out.
I'm biased though. Pippin is probably my favorite musical (if not in my top five), and I thought this production was absolutely magical and captured the essence of magic the show has always sought to create--although it did compromise quite a bit of the sexiness, but I was able to forgive it. Though, I'm sure the show will tour for a while, no?
I'm curious to know what Rachel and Charlotte will book next. Both of them reinvented their roles with such comic panache. I'm honestly surprised that Rachel stuck with the show this long. A paycheck is a paycheck, but I - wrongly - thought she'd have her own sitcom by now. What a talent.
I hope Rachel and Charlottle do somthing great next! I really wish Rachel would have won the tony. It would have opened up so many more doors for her. Thinkin about it right now, if Rachel could do the British accent, I think she would be an AMAZING Miss Honey in Matilda. If you watch clips from the tour of "A Christmas Story", she plays motherly very well, all while retaining that comedic edge.
Ah the farm animal scene. Having seen the original production I said to myself WTF did that have to do with the story. Looked like I was watching Sesame Street. Other than that I enjoyed it but the original was better.
Yeah, I agree about the pig sex scene. It was gratuitous and might only be funny to a 12 year old. Though the audience I saw it with was so hyped up that it seemed to go over well.
I don't think act II was nearly as good as act 1. But act 1 was so strong it overcame any misgivings. I know the original was played without an intermission. I imagine that worked better.
Not nice, Dreaming, to wish a superb production of the great "Cabaret" with the awesome Alan Cumming and in the perfect venue, Studio 54, to close, just so another show can play there. I urge anyone who has not seen it to go!
Charlotte could always go back to "Chicago" at some point. After all, it would only be a short term assignment. I've yet to see her as "Roxie." Maybe she can go back when Bianca finishes her year long run in March 2015?
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)
jemjeb-Much as I loved the 1998 production, for me, this incarnation was, sadly, nowhere near as good as the original revival. Also, the venue is perfect for The Visit. Don't worry, Roundabout has made it clear it wants nothing to do with The Visit at present and that Cabaret shall be safely entrenched there.
