I think Paris would be AMAZING in this role. she has the youth, the VOICE and she's been granted instant relevance due to her being on IDOL. BE A LION and HOME. can you hear it? anyone else think she would be great? I'm predicting this one now if she doesnt win(and she probably wont)and if the McAnuff production comes to Broadway.

I actually made the same comment to my wife the other night while watching the show. She would be ideal in the role. I see her finishing relatively high in the Idol rankings this season, however, so she might be busy with an album around the same time McAnuff gets his production rolling. I'm crossing my fingers, though.
I am not impressed with her.
I agree that she'll probably finish high on AI. I adore her, her squeaky speaking voice and that big, woman voice that somehow comes out of her, she takes me aback every time. She's just so damn cute too. And yes, Dorothy would be a great role for her.
I agree...this would be good for her.
Now if we can just get Mandeisa to play Effie......
If you take a few minutes to searh there is a clip somewhere of her as Dorothy in a high school production of The Wiz.

Mandisa always looks like she's hungry when she's singing, like she just might snap the head off the microphone and suck it dry like a neckbone. Great voice, though.

I actually think that young Lisa has a Stephanie Mills quality.
But Margo,
What do you think of her as Effie?
I think she could completely pull it off.
LOL! Margo that gave me one of the great belly laughs i need a day.
As for Paris, everyone i was watching it with said the SAME thing. I love this girl. so much passion and fun. Love her voice.

She certainly could pull off Effie.
I feel like there's no connection between Mandisa and what Mandisa is singing. It's all just showing off, vocally.

Personally, I can't stand Paris. She just screams.

I can also see her as TiMoune in Once On This Island.

She played the part in a regional production. I have a friend who music directed her and said she was fierce.
"I actually think that young Lisa has a Stephanie Mills quality".
omg...lisa tucker/stephanie mills?? no offense but lisa in nowhere in the ballpark, let alone arena of stephanie mills. im sure all will agree. Paris however is a different story. she has so much flavor and style and those songs would get a treatment that would send goosebumps im sure.

beautiful voice she has on her.i could see it.
Margo you crack my s**t up!
Hah...That video of her in The Wiz is funny. She sounds great, but is pretty much pantomiming the whole song. Unless this was a Deaf West production, then it is pretty annoying.
Hah...I would also love to see her as Emmie in Caroline...if only because her voice reminds me a lot of a young Tonya in its gritty texture.

Agreed, Akiva, about the pantomiming. I think Paris is fine to listen to, and painful to watch. Way too annoying for me. She doesn't know the meaning of the word subtle.
Chicken Little has to be in it somewhere

she reminds me of Stephanie Mills looks wise.
Mandisa is vocally leagues and leagues ahead of Paris, and most of the singers in the competion.
Mandisa is the real deal. She has a degree in voice, if you didn't know already.
How about non-traditional casting and use Katharine McPhee
During Paris' audition, my mother sat there, jaw on the floor, and actually said "My god, that girl SPARKLES when she sings!" I kid you not.
I agree Paris would be great as Dorothy.
