You're right. I'm over it. I'll pass the word to all the other Patti fans. (And the Tonys, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and the whoever-hands-out-the-Oliviers committees.)
No need to check out any other Patti threads. I'll make sure everybody's on board.

"I have also met him in person, and I find him to be quite funny actually. Arrogant and often misinformed, but still funny."

Awww... Yelling at Tiffany really is a dyeing art form. And far more unsubstantiated. She was just trying to have a pleasant farewell. It's not like she was taking photos during the taping of the "Shake Ya Body (Body)" music video.
And Patti is every bit as great as I think she is. Her performance in Master Class was perfection both times I saw it and her Matters of the Heart concert at the Donmar was sublime. But if you have to try and tell "everybody" that she's not actually great, then perhaps you need to evaluate your perspective a little more objectively. You are, after all, admitting that you are the sole minority in LuPone admiration. It does sounds suspiciously like the "I'm-not-lying-everybody-else-is" defense. It might work on rich suburban cool moms with tennis bracelets, spiky hair and terra cotta skin tones after you get caught dumping a quarter bag into the brownie mix during Home Ec class in eighth grade, but it's not applicable to everything. Believe me, I've tried.
It's ok Reg. You can believe she's as good as I think she is. And I'll even let you borrow my Maybelline Kissing Potion after third period.

Gillian Laub is/was the photographer and she has said LuPone apologized directly and was embarrassed afterwards though she’s never publicly addressed this. Gillian had been approved in advance by not only LuPone but also the production to photograph portions of “Rose’s Turn” for New York Magazine.
Apparently as legend now stands, LuPone must have been so focused and in character that she forgot the pre-authorized photos and went off. Gillian has stated that LuPone contacted her the following day and personally apologized to her.
LuPone has never corrected the true situation whenever it has been addressed in interviews. She fuels the myth herself.

I read Gillian Laub’s post somewhere on social media maybe a year or so ago and couldn’t believe that hadn’t come out sooner AND that no one else seemed to have read it. I thought I was living in a parallel universe for a while.
That being said, I’m going to be a nitpicky Patti fan and say that while obviously she’s never come out and explained what really happened, she really engages more with the conversation about cell phone use in the theater. I think she has seemed embarrassed when people bring up the photographer incident, and definitely when the remix of her yelling at the photographer is brought up.
