That same poster is posting that same false story on every blog on the Internet.
It's amazing the lengths the Patti Haters will go to.
Don't they have lives?

Call me stupid, but I don't care who you are, breaking fourth wall when you are a Juilliard graduate, world renowned performer and two time Tony winner is pitiful. Stopping a show and yelling at the audience in the middle of a number is just plain, downright unprofessional.
I have never been the biggest Patti fan to begin with, but it's stories like these that REALLY make me unable to understand how she keeps working professionally, talent level aside.
If I were in that audience, God help me, I would have stood up, taken a picture of her little bitch fit, booed her, and walked out of the theatre.
I've listened to her stop the performance several times now... it never gets old!
You know what I have to say? GOOD FOR HER!

Sorry, I didn't clarify this in my first post. I'm not saying I promote taking pictures in the theatre during a performance. But I would be pissed if I shelled out the money for a ticket to Gypsy and my experience was ruined, not by a flash going off, but by one of the greatest numbers in the show being interrupted by a completely unnecessary diva fit.
But didn't you say "Call me stupid"?

I did. I was merely clarifying myself.
If you wish to call me stupid, go ahead. haha.
I should've figured it was the same person. I'm a bit naive, though.
Ironic story: Almost immediately after the 1st time I read this post, my dad (who knows next to nothing about theatre) told me "some Broadway people" were performing near where we live. I looked at the newspaper ad he had, and it turned out to be the one and only Patti. I was going to suggest that we borrow my Spanish teacher's huge, blinding-flash camera and bring it to a show (don't ask why my Espanol teacher has a huge camera). But, alas, I knew he wouldn't get it and I politely declined the offer to see Patti.
ive herd the same stories bout this over and over again
she did not stop the show to yell at people the show did stop once cause the air condition vent fell and at the final show because everytime she came on on stage or sang she had a 5 min standin ovation.
umm... but the thing is, she DID stop the show to yell at people! I LOVE Patti for doing it too!
but yeah, she really did this time
haha oh well during the last performance someones cell kept going off but she didnt stop to yell they just made an annocement but you could tell she was pissed

were you at the show when the air duct feel on an audience member?
My favourite Broadway fourth-wall-breaker is still Douglas Sills.
thats so DIVicious. brilliant.
at the final performance there was a girl (probably in early teens) who was crunching on pretzels in a plastic bag. I gave her the glare of death.
Schmerg-
What is/are your Douglas Sills fourth wall-breaking experience/s? Love him and I've never encountered that with him, so I'm just really curious what happened.
Holy. Sh*t.
It's up on that site. And it's scary as hell.

Yeah, I'm curious too! What's the Douglas Sills fourth wall story!?!?!
Wow! She was TICKED OFF! But I say good for her. And the audience seemed to be on her side.
WHOA! I just listened to it - she was not subtle about it. Whoever was kicked out that day must have been really ashamed. I suppose that was the risk they were taking, but she made the biggest deal about it.
What a meta experience: An illegal audio of Patti objecting to someone taking illegal photos.
If only there were video involved...
Well I got a visual while listening to it and it wasn't pretty!
My friend was at City Center the night she kicked that lady's playbill off the stage back into her lap.
