I got to know Anna when she was doing Oklahoma! and she was a lovely soul. Everyone in the company was crazy about her and she became the defacto den mother. Smart, funny, strong and loving. She will be sorely missed.
And she once played Rose in GYPSY. In Spokane Washington!

Cathy and Ross released a statement but I can't find the link. Both spoke highly of their respective cousin and sister.
One my earliest memories of Patty Duke was watching her in the TV movie "Sweet Charly" which was fairly groundbreaking (1969/70)? For it's day, about an unmarried woman and a Black attorney on the run who bond in an abandoned seaside house.
I didn't realize until much later it had been a BW play starring Bonnie Bedelia and Louis Gosset Jr although I'm not sure if Patty's adaptation was from the play or the original novel.

R.I.P. Anna/Patty
Thank you daisybeetle for letting me know. I updated the link with new footage.
A tiny figure with the courage of a lion. An amazing talent. When she was finally diagnosed as Bi-Polar, she didn't hide in the shadows. She screamed it from the roof tops and helped and saved many who suffered in silence without answers.
She was in her barn one day and a horse knocked her into a post and she received a skull fracture. Six months later she singing and dancing on the Gershwin stage in "Oklahoma". She was extended many times in "Wicked" in SF and loved it. I asked why she never came to Broadway in it and she simply said "They never asked me". RIP Anna.
I'm so upset. She was a great actress and a wonderful person. I hope they dim the lights on Broadway for her and not pull another "Joan Rivers" where we all have to make a big stink.
