Paulo Szot will be on vacation September 9th through September 14th. In his absence, the role of Emile will be played by his standby, William Michals.
Currently, the principle cast are all contracted through January 4th.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Posted: 6/29/08 at 7:05pmOff this topic, but as I'm listening to the '94 revival cast recording or Carousel, I couldn't help but think that Kelli O'Hara and Paulo Szot would be wonderful in a production of Carousel.

I just would like to say that there are three hot GAY leading men on Broadway right now...
Paulo, Daniel Evans and Cheyenne. I am so proud that Broadway does not care about a sexual orientation when it comes to casting. Hollywood should take note!

Mr. Szot is indeed gay. And if he wasn't before he won the Tony, having one presented to you by LIZA! will indeed turn you gay.
But yes, it's wonderful that we have (or rather had) three openly gay leading men on Broadway playing straight roles. Hollywood should indeed take note.

DAMN.
I know it's massively offensive to say "what a waste", so I won't, but that still doesn't make this girl hurt any less that she now stands EVEN LESS of a chance with someone as beautiful as Szot than before.

Kelli O'Hara is not mediocore in anyway Johnboy, granted I've never seen her onstage, but what I can gather from clips and recordings that she has a lovely voice and fully embodys her chracters. I really hope she plays Eliza and wins her long overdue Tony. I wanted her to win this year but Patti won and deservingly so,heard some clips and the saw the performance and that just sealed the deal. Love ya Kelli, but the Tony really does belong to Patti. Bet you never think that would come out of a rabid Kelli fan's mouth.
