can someone please explain to me how to go about getting rush tickets for next to normal?
i've read all of the thread but still don't really get it.
i'm making the journey over from australia mainly to see this show, and we really don't have a rush system here.
and of course i already have proper tickets, but if i'm travelling across the world i want to see it more than once :P
thanks alot

Stuck in Oz... It's really very simple. You line up outside the Booth before the box office opens. Lately the tendency has been for the line to start sometime around 5 (give or take a half hour...and with the exception of Thursday shows when reportedly the into-overnight-rushing "altarholics" are there). Yesterday I think if you weren't on the line by 6:45 or so it's unlikely that you got tickets. At some point (yesterday 7:30) they hand out numbered wristbands which basically just gives an order to the line. (I've not seen any real issues...though the bands started after the woman who does the cleaning let an older woman ahead of everyone else one Sunday because she felt like it.)
When the box office opens, you go in one at a time and may purchase one or two tickets pending availability. $25 eash ~ and it seems like they've gone to cash only. At times they have accepted cards, but the safer bet is to just have the cash with you.

Thanks for your explanation regarding the rush policy, jordangirl.
They sell front row and boxes, right? Do they start with front row? Center or the sides? Or does it change from day to day?

They start with the front row center (from house left to right), then the four side front row seats, then the box seats.

Great! Thanks, defyingravity11! I have already secured 1 regular ticket for my next theatre trip, but I may rush one of the other days.

Oh god, now I am really nervous about getting tickets. The earliest train on Friday is 5:40.

You probably already know this, but they have $40 partial view seats on the sides of the orchestra; I was able to get two of them at about 4:00 on Saturday.

Elke ~ Typically they start with front row center. Apparently on Sunday the man had printed them ahead of time and put the sides on top of the stack and that's the order he insisted on. But the usual is to begin with front row center.

So should I just not try if I can't get there until like 6:50?

It's always worth a shot. Different days may be different. More people than you think may only be getting one ~ sometimes two people will come and only get 2 tickets. If it's close to 20 people online, it might be worth doing a poll as to how many they're getting. Odds are that you won't be front row center orchestra...but then again, it's hard to say. Maybe it'll be a low day for rush.

Ok, I have a question...recently when I've rushed, the man handing out the wrist bands says "Just so you know, two tickets per person isn't guaranteed. It depends on the over night box sales." WTF? A. Do they put the boxes on sale at midnight or something? B. Even if there were some 'over night box sales', what do they care if you get one or two tickets?

box office sales is what he meant...they said the same thing to us on Thursday

Ohh haha. Box office sales makes much more sense...and I kind of feel like an idiot lol. But still, what do they care if you buy one or two? It just sends a wave of panic down the rush line.

The woman yesterday didn't say anything when she handed them out. The time before when I rushed, the guy only said that the wristband was simply a placeholder and did not guarantee a ticket. He also said that it did NOT mean you could leave the line to go and get breakfast for half an hour or more (a quick run to the bathroom was more acceptable).

If I don't get rush...can I just ask for standing room then? Or is there a certain time I have to get it?

Standing room is generally sold once the entire theatre has been sold out - when the rush tix are gone, that doesn't mean the performance is sold out.

Are they now selling SRO? When I went a few weeks ago the man said that they're not selling them b/c the producers decided they give too much of a partial view. So are they selling SRO now or not?
Also the $40 Partials in the ORC, are they good? Do they only sell them when its close to sold out or can I get the $40's if I don't get rush?

Hmm when did you hear that about SRO? I had a SRO ticket last Tuesday, I believe. I got my ticket at about 4:30, there were actually two unsold spots next to me. But there have also been several times where I went at around two hours to curtain and the SRO was sold out. Other than I'm Alive, they're really not that partial view. Great for the price.

Yep, $26.50. There's probably about 10-12 availble.
