Thank you so much for the info! I'm normally more patient with these things and love to catch understudies, but I have a friend visiting from out of the country and she's dying to catch Aaron on. (She's already seen Tim and Michael on and loved them.) I guess we'll keep our fingers crossed for next week, then!
Blockhead, you mentioned that J. Robert Spencer will be out for all performances until the Saturday matinee. Is he supposed to be back for the evening show? Or is this not sure yet?
Seeing the Sunday evening show and I'm really looking forward to seeing him as Dan.
Is Aaron still filming Gossip Girl or is he sick? Although I think Kyle is a much better Gabe that Tim, it doesn't seem fair to Tim that they're not letting him go on.
Thanks for the info on Aaron---I went for the 5th time on Thursday (the 24th) and have to admit I was really disappointed that Aaron was out. I have seen Kyle's Gabe 3 times and Aaron once, and wanted to see it with Aaron again. Kyle is great but I think the energy is amped up when Aaron is on...
And maybe I am naive and don't know how these things work, but when I picked my tickets up Thursday at 5:45 PM there were no subs on the board and the box office guy said "everyone is in this evening"....
Don't they know that Aaron is out filming "Gossip Girl"? And if Bobby is sick -isn't he iffy every day until he gets better??
I feel like it's sort of a "bait and switch" or do box office people get no information about subs??? I just don't know how these things work...
The box office people don't get any information about the cast, unless someone specifically goes out of their way to tell them. The house manager might know, but there's very little contact between the show and the box office.
You can't call the Booth theater box office it's a private number that is very difficult to obtain. You could however try calling Telecharge's service line and sometimes they will call the box office and find out for you their number is (212)239-6200
I once tried getting the box office number and it redirected me to telecharge. The guy on the phone said there wasn't a number to call the box office, any questions were dealt with them...I don't know how much truth there is to that though.
Does anyone know what side of the street the rush line starts on? Is it by the big portraits of everybody or the other way?
Could someone call the Telecharge number for my friend and I to find out if Aaron will be in or not tonight? We know that they probably won't be able to tell us, but it would be helpful to even know that.
Ultimately it really doesn't matter to the box office or the production staff if Aaron is out. As he is below title, you are not entitled to a refund or exchange if he is out.
I saw Michael on Sunday night and really enjoyed his performance. I found him to be a bit more subtle than Bobby, but no less effective. I personally found his voice the tiniest bit not "right" for the more rock numbers, but on the ballads he was marvelous. His "A Light In The Dark" completely undid me. I really love Bobby's performance, but I'd see Michael again in a heartbeat.
First of all, he's very different from Bobby. If you go in expecting a clone of Bobby's (remarkable) performance, you'll be disappointed.
Berry's voice is a lot deeper, but it's gorgeous. The one song I didn't enjoy his voice in was the first I Am the One, where, because its so booming, it sounded like he was singing in a concert and not to Diana.
He makes some interesting acting choices. He doesn't break down like Bobby does, but is rather, more resigned to all of this happening. Almost like, he's been down this road with Diana many times before, and nothing surprises him. At the end of the I Am the One reprise, just as Gabe starts running off, Berry reaches his arm out to try and grab him, to pull him back. Very effective.
Of course, he's not as good as Bobby (who should be Tony winner Bobby Spencer), but he's excellent in his own right. I really, really, enjoyed him and would be happy to see him again. Updated On: 9/26/09 at 02:12 PM
