Is she seriously still Peter!?
hahaha... wow. That's impressive.
I don't get the whole Peter being a girl deal... esp. "Finding Neverland".... any thoughts?

Posted: 11/23/04 at 6:51pmI agree...I don't know why a Peter is almost always a girl. I saw a production where they actually used a guy in his 20's that just looked amazingly young and it was so much more believable and magical. If they do go with a woman, please at least pray that she is young. The fact that she is still doing "Peter Pan" boggles my mind.

I can't get enough of this musical, I LOVE it!!
Peter is played by women for the simple fact that women are typically smaller/weigh less than men, and are more agile and able to "fly" better. The role has been played by women since its first performance in 1904, and it just kind of became tradition. I don't have a problem with it, because I LOVE Cathy Rigby and Mary Martin in this role, but I LOVED seeing an actual 11-year old BOY play Peter in P.J. Hogans amazingly astounding live action version =)

Posted: 11/23/04 at 7:39pmI saw her as Peter Pan when I was 4. That was more than 12 years ago. As much as I loved her, I think its time to hang up the tights.

Revival had always been planned since before the recent tour. The problem is, however, finding a theatre. SO many upcoming shows, such limited spaces.
(Shameless plug) For more information on the tour, including photos, reviews, tour schedule, cast list, and more, visit www.peterpanfan.com/new/pptour.html
Another reason why having a female play Peter became tradition because in the early 1900's, there were child labor laws in England preventing a child from taking the role. So instead of using a husky, muscled, heavyweight man, a small, lightweight, youthful woman took it over.
Yes, there have been productions with men, and even boys, playing the role. But due to tradition and ease of casting, women are more often chosen.

hmmm..don't know why Playbill is just putting out a story on this tour..it's been out for a few months. Not like it's breaking news.
And this is Cathy's farwell tour. So she says.
Like Cher.
And Celine.
