Stars aren't usually essential to the road because it's so subscription-based, but in this case I think they'd benefit a lot from someone with notoriety to help with local press and promotions. Even if it's a less-famous SNL alum or a MadTV person or even a Drag Race star. Also wonder what gender they will go with.

It would be nice to get someone with some name recognition and comedic chops. Cheri Oteri, Missi Pyle would nail it but they might not be big enough names. A true A lister would probably not do a tour.

I could see them Maybe having different Marys at different stops, like casting a few different actors. That could open the door to more a-list casting who may not want to do a full tour, but would be available for a stop or two.

Missy Pyle would be amazing, Bettyboy, and exactly the "type" of name I was thinking of. Not a household name, but someone who can get some media attention and has a sort of recognizable face + credits.

Until this convo, I hadn't thought about it, but Alex Borstein would be hilarious. As either Mary or Mary's Chaperone.
I could also see Kate Berlant as Mary and John Early as Mary's Husband. Maybe that's wishful thinking?

Considering how thoughtful and first-rate the casting has been for Broadway + West End, I'm sure they'll find someone wonderful. I do like the idea of having different Mary Todd's who are local favorites from regional theatres where there's such an abundance of talent that would make each city a bit of an event.
That being said (pure speculation), I think Hannah Solow would be a wonderful choice / showcase how great she is all around. And I recall *awhile* back speculation that Cole + Conrad might return in the West Coast cities.

Great idea, but logistically I don't think it would work.

I know in Las Vegas this is not part of the subscription series and this market needs a name I think to sell this kind of show.

Based on an email invite I just received for a pride event sponsored by another show trying to make its way off-Broadway next season, the first cast member I can surmise for the tour is Pooya Mohseni as Louise.
