Petition To Keep Alice Ripley In Next To Normal Until The Day She Dies

Please post your messages, and show your support. If enough people virtually sign this in the next few days, and write messages of support, maybe the producers could be persuaded. If any of you have any contacts with the show, please private message me contact e-mails, or you can simply forward them this thread.

I believe that there honestly could be a market for Alice in the show for eternity and then an eventual DVD release. I think it could be a hit on DVD/Blu-Ray such as the final performance of Ragtime has been.

So please show your support.

Is "Next To Normal" code for a mental institution?

I find this thread very amusing. Based on some of the comments I have typed recently, I will refrain from typing what I mean by "very amusing".

With great affection to Jordan Catalano, you are kidding with this thread? I'm not sure anymore. Someone please help me. I am in a BroadwayWorld vortex and I am desperate to get out!!!!!

This is one show I can't imagine without Alice. I know that sounds lame, but so many people who have seen the show feel she is a force of nature. She has been mostly responsible for the visceral responses that keep people talking about the show. Alice herself said at the stage door that she has no idea how to top this and wants to "ride this train as long as I can." It really is HER role. If she gets replaced, I think the energy from the show will quickly dissipate and the show will close.
"The sexual energy between the mother and son really concerns me!"-random woman behind me at Next to Normal "I want to meet him after and bang him!"-random woman who exposed her breasts at Rock of Ages, referring to James Carpinello

I bet she'll do the tour when the show closes...or pull a Jennifer Berdhart (sp?) from Avenue Q and stay the entire run.

I'd like to recommend that starting next month, Alice Ripley play ALL of the roles in Next to Normal. Imagine how much more powerful a statement about schizophrenia it would make.

Also, I like Dollypop's typo re: Carol Channing's epic run as Dolly. Loon-inous indeed. (I saw with abounding love)

Bettyboy: I actually like Sherie's voice much better for the score than Alice's, as amazing an actress as she may be. Sherie was involved with the show back when it was called FEELING ELECTRIC, and I believe she was the very first Diana. I think if Sherie stayed with the show she, too, could have made a very memorable mark on the role. Alice certainly raises the stakes higher than I ever would have imagined though and she does, indeed, own the role now. Still, Sherie's "Didn't I See A Movie" is superior to Alice's and I also think "Feeling Electric" is the best song in the score and was shocked that they cut it for Broadway.

P, I think it was Amy Spanger, not Sherrie Rene Scott.
Anyways, they should stop saying that Alice is such a good actress, she acted a lot crazier when she was herself at the Tonys.

What about after she dies? Can we extend the petition to include that?
