#1Phantom Tickets - seating question

Hi,
It's been quite a few years since i've been to the Majestic Theatre and I'm buying Phantom tickets as a gift and I have a quick question. I understand the mezzanine overhangs Orchestra Row H - if you sit in the orchestra and are further back, can you still see the all of the action. I haven't seen this show in years, so I don't recall. Also, would Row H be a good spot? I would be able to get Row H seats 1-5. Also, is Row B - Too close?
Please let me know.
Thanks in advance.

Posted: 4/23/09 at 10:01pmI would imagine that you wouldn't be able to see the Phantom at the very top of the proscenium for certain scenes if you sit under the overhang, but I've never sat there so I don't know for sure.

I've seen Phantom at the Majestic about 32 times and I would say that in the orchestra, its best to sit ahead of row M (or else you wont see the Phantom on the proscenium, or the chandelier).
But I also think the front mezz is a million times better than the orch.

Sorry to barge in here but does anyone know how are the $26.50 seats in the back two rows of the rear mezz? I have seen Phantom in London and was in the Gallery and had mega view problems with it being so high so I missed all the above stage action with the phantom etc. Do these seats have the same problem or are they alright?
ThankstoPhantom

No, those last two rows are actually quite good seats. Unlike Her Majesty's, the Majestic has only an Orchestra (Stalls) level and a Mezzanine (Dress Circle) level. The theatre was built with sight lines in mind. Even when one is under the overhang on the Orchestra level, one can see the entire stage area... no major cut offs! The only cut off, of course, is the proscenium and chandelier when hanging, but the designers weren't thinking that people were going to be running around up there one day. :)

I think im going to get those seats in the back of the Mezz when I go then, seems silly to be spending an extra $40-$50 for the few rows infront if the ones at the back are good.
Can you see the proscenium/chandeleer action from up there?

Those back 2 rows in the mezz are really good, except for the distance (the actors look small so bring some opera glasses or something, lol) but you do see everything. Even the lighting bridge does not block the chandelier like it does in London.
also most of the boot**** on yout**e are shot from back there.

Posted: 4/24/09 at 12:09pmI actually sat in row Q in the orchestra, and did not have any issues seeing. You can't see the chandelier because of the mezzanine overhang, but I did see the Phantom in the procenium.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts/suggestions. I am actually going to this show with my mom and brother and I'm hoping to do so within the next month. We have to sit in the Orchestra though (long story). I am surprised that you can see the Phantom on the proscenium if you are under the mezzanine - I would think that would block your view - although since the mezzanine overhangs at Row H, that wouldn't leave many rows with a full view. I just looked at my tickets from the last time I saw the show, and I was in Row E. It was back in 2004, so I don't remember much about the theatre.
So, anything before Row M should be good is what i've gathered from this thread. That's good to know about being up close - like Row B or C - I'll take that into consideration.
Marianne2 - Row Q was good? On telecharge they say something about that row (and a few others) something like there is 5 minutes of the show that you could miss (the action off the stage) - I don't remember word for word, but good to know row Q would be OK.

Ok, I bought my tickets tonight. I got Row K, seats 1, 3, 5, and 7. I wanted to get the discount, and these were the closest I could get, somewhat centered, on the dates that we were able to go. With the discount, it seems that anything ahead of row H was either full price or premium. I hope we have a good view. It looks like there is a walkway in rows I and J instead of seats - is that true?
Thanks for all of your comments.

Posted: 4/29/09 at 12:21amWow Row K seats 1, 3 etc are terrific seats. Yes, there is an aisle right in front of it, which is a good thing, because you are a good 4 feet or so above the row in front of you, and you are really just a few rows from the stage.....close enough that you can see the actor's facial expressions, but far enought that you can see the "picture" of the whole stage. I've sat in row K seats 1/3 three different times, and I bought them from the box office, and the guy always said how those are the "house seats", the seats that the employees get to use for friends/family.

Thanks george95! I'm really excited about the seats I got - especially after reading your post. I actually played around with tele-charge online for a while, and even though I was looking for four tickets, I was so tired of seats I didn't want coming up, that I put in for five (just so that that I could see what other areas were open) and Row K was available (I also REALLY like having aisle seats at the theatre) - but it wouldn't come up for 4 seats - I guess the system thought there were technically other seats that were "best available". So, I decided to call and tell tele-charge where I wanted to sit since I knew those seats were open. I'm guessing we won't have much of a problem seeing the Phantom above the stage?
I'm not going until June, but I'm sure it will be worth the wait.

The proscenium sculpture is lowered when the Phantom is on it.
There are other times when he's running around atop the proscenium and not in the angel and you probably can't see him if you're under the overhang.

Posted: 4/30/09 at 7:51pm^^ yeah, but if that's the case, there aren't many rows in the Orchestra that allow that kind of view - the overhang starts at Row H.

Posted: 4/30/09 at 9:01pmYou can see the Phantom in the proscenium, and the shaking chandelier (gee hope i'm not giving anything away here) back to about L/M/N, depending on where you are in the row, how much you can crane your neck, etc.

^^ Sounds good to me! I haven't seen this show in about 5 years. I saw it once in Philadelphia at the Forrest Theatre and once in NY at the Majestic, of course. The Philadelphia show was the first time I saw it and come to think of it, it was my first time going to the theatre - I had been to many concerts before, but not quite the same thing.
I'm really looking forward to seeing Phantom again.
