I was invited to Trouble in Mind the same Saturday I have a ticket to Phantom. Which would you see (assuming neither are cancelled because of covid reasons)?

Though I haven’t seen either, I always opt for the limited run since Phantom will always be there.

That’s my thinking too. Ive seen the Phantom tour but not Broadway. If I do Trouble in Mind, I might have to eat the Phantom ticket cost if TodayTix won’t refund or voucher.

If you can make it work, I definitely think it’s better to see Trouble in Mind. Not only is it a great show, but the context around it is historic, and it’s a limited run. You’ve seen Phantom, and it isn’t even necessarily better on Broadway than it is on tour.

Even if you've only seen the restaged tour and not the original of Phantom, I would still say that it will be around for a while and you can catch it some other time. Trouble in Mind is excellent, topical and a limited run, so even though I love Phantom, go for the one with an expiry date and enjoy!

If you saw Cameron Mackintosh's "reimagined" U.S. tour, then you haven't seen Phantom. On a related note, while Phantom may "always be there" in some form, if there's another COVID shutdown I can see Mackintosh taking his knife to the Broadway production and reducing it to the cheapo crap-fest that is now the London production.

Our trip was cancelled so we won’t get to NYC on 1/8. Won’t get to see Trouble in Mind which I’m sad about. But I’m seeing Phantom in Feb thanks to the TodayTix voucher.

As if almost to rub salt in the wounds of many UK fans of the show, Mackintosh recently said with glee in an interview that COVID showed, in relation to Phantom, that it shouldn't be taken for granted. While I have not heard of any plans to butcher/close the Broadway production in the way London has been (though they have implemented a few bizarre staging changes), if you haven't seen this show already, you really ought to before it's too late to experience Maria Björnson's and Hal Prince's genius. I mean, it's Hal's only piece that is still staged more or less as it was on Broadway.

I’m sorry you’re not able to see Trouble In Mind, adotburr. It’s a special show - but I’m glad you will be seeing Phantom with Emilie as principal Christine (who, last time I saw it a month ago, was head and shoulders above the rest of the main cast - and I’ve been seeing Phantom productions since ‘04).
