Posted: 1/23/12 at 10:49pmI'll be there. I have a great Center Orch seat, right on the aisle. Perhaps ALW will be there.....Hal Prince? Who knows? It will be a very exciting afternoon.

Posted: 1/24/12 at 9:39amI'll be there in the front mezz. Flying in from Chicago for the day just to be there for the 10,000th show : )

Posted: 1/24/12 at 10:07amHave a safe flight and your front mezz seat (I know from personal experience) will be a great one! I drove to Chicago just to see the first National tour of "Miss Saigon", so I can relate. Of course that day, the helicopter did not work. Let's hope their are no chandelier glitches.

Posted: 1/24/12 at 10:29amWish I could be there, chances are they will just have some post show speeches and photo opps with cake or banner. NYC is well known for its low key celebrations.

Very exciting, wish I could be there, but what could the show do to mark such a incredible milestone in Broadway history?
A bit predictable to speeches after the show and cutting a cake to mark the occasion, be great if they could do something very different?
What could Playbill do to mark the occasion.

Posted: 1/24/12 at 2:25pmWell I bought tickets to the 9,000th show a couple years ago expecting to hear a few speeches and see a cake and there for that important milestone, only to find out that they did everything at the 8,999th show earlier in the day! So this will make up for that lol

Posted: 1/24/12 at 8:36pmThat link says the special playbill is available only at the playbill online store, but aren't they also going to give them out at the performance???
#16Phantom's 10,000th! Who's going?
Posted: 1/30/12 at 11:54amI would assume that the special 10,000th performance Playbill will be given out at the performance. Can't imagine why it wouldn't?

I just got two tickets for the performance. Was told it was prime location seats (whatever that means).
It is also an Actor's Equity Fund show. I was very surprised to get the tickets from the group I got them from, so I think it is not going to be sold out at all. Remember it's a matinee.

Wonder if Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman will turn up, ALW will but Crawford will have only finished in the Wizard of Oz two weeks prior.

Posted: 2/2/12 at 4:50pmWish I could attend. This will be a theatrical first...and last. No other Broadway musical will ever reach 10,000 performances. This is a proud and astounding record that POTO will hold forever. My heart will be in the Majestic that afternoon.

Posted: 2/2/12 at 5:10pmI'll be there in the orchestra. Starting to get excited. I've never seen Hugh Panaro before but heard he's wonderful. I'm sure Hal and ALW will be there. I think Cameron might be there to since he announced he was coming over at SB's Les Mis announcement. Not sure though.

You are in for a major treat broadwayriff! Hugh sings the score amazingly and beautifully. He does a few things in the final lair scene that I always watch for which I won't spoil for you. In the 22 times I've seen him his performance is consitently full of energy and never a tired voice.
Enjoy!

I don't know. There are a couple that are less than ten years behind and also not showing signs of stopping yet. Phantom may be the first Broadway musical to reach the milestone, but may not be the last.

jimmy-
The question is not whether Chicago and/or The Lion King can survive another 10 years. The question is: Can either show survive another 10 years AFTER Phantom closes. What year will that be? Is the end even in sight? Can Phantom stretch another 5 years? 10?
I'd love to see POTO's record get broken. That's always been the order of things. Correct me if I'm wrong, cause I'm getting older, but didn't Fiddler break Dolly!'s record? And Grease broke Fiddler's. And Chorus Line broke Grease's. And Cats broke ACL's. And Phantom broke Cats's. (Any record-keeper, jump in here) As Phantom's big number 10,000 approaches, can it ever be topped? And we all thought Cats was Now and Forever!
