The butterfly wing was always there on Broadway. Just maybe not lit like that, but it's not new.

I believe that's the chair Melchior climbs up to and then sits in for a few scenes in the second act. Same as on Broadway.

yes the b'fly was on b'way...I think I remember a story that Lea Michele got a tattoo of it.
As for the chair: I have a friend that saw one of the previews...maybe the first one. The chair IS different from the b'way set. In London, as you can see, the chair begins on the wall stage left....it is on a track and moves (during whispering....I think) to stage right. On B'way it is always SR next to the ladder.

It moves across during "Whispering" while Melchior sings a verse in the song that they added (a reprise of "MWBM" I think my friend said).
There are a few additions and changes to the set/blocking, namely: a coffin during "Left Behind," no pit during the reformatory scene, different fight choreography for Wendla and Melchior, and a few other things I can't remember.
