Not if their criticizing her performance. The race thing is (or at least should be) a non issue. If the performance is as great as I'm hearing it is, there shouldn't be much to criticize. If reviews do pop up, can we please post them here.
And quite honestly, there isn't anything to criticize.
Saw the show tonight. Phylicia Rashad was absolutely fabulous. She and Amy Morton were electric together.

I only just saw August for the first time like a few weeks ago, but I'm itching to go back. I can't wait!!!
Every time I've rushed this show they tell me it's already sold-out. Should I just try to get there early like 11am?
I'm not sure if I'm up for a third viewing of August, but these wonderful reviews certainly make it tempting!
Does anyone remember how long Rashad is contracted for? TIA.

I saw the show for the first time today, and Phylicia was absolutely BRILLIANT. Never for once minute did I even think about the fact that she's black but no one else in the family is. I was just so immersed into the story.
And I just have to say that I LOVE Amy Morton. And the chemistry between her ant Phylicia was perfect. Great casting choice!

sorry this is a little off topic but i hear some people think august won't be lasting much longer. if i am planning to come in october, what are the chances a:oc will still be around?

The chances aren't good. But never say never. Wait until the end of August (the month, not the show) when Phylicia leaves. If they announce a replacement for her, book your ticket.

I saw the OBC cast when the show first opened (2 days after Opening Night). I am heading back to NYC next month, and will definitely see the show again. I've long been a fan of Ms. Rashad on the stage -- having seen her in the OBC of Dreamgirls and as the Witch in Into the Woods.
Getting the chance to see Amy Morton again makes it a more special treat.
