Hi Guys,
I'm gonna be in NYC in December and I was wondering what new shows will go on by than, and also I'd love to know what you recommend.
I'll probably see Side show, Hedwig and Pippin but am definitely looking to add more shows. what else should I see?
Thanks!

Posted: 10/5/14 at 3:25amI've not seen them yet but a few of the plays getting the most positive buzz right now are: "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time", "Disgraced" and "You Can't Take It With You" with James Earl Jones. As far as I'm concerned, any time you have the opportunity to see James Earl Jones on stage, you should take it.

Well, I haven't been to Broadway for a long time but I love theater, I guess what I mostly looking is for shows that will still have their original cast when I'm there and maybe even cabaret shows of known Broadway actors that are taking place around December.
I hope that helps you guys understand what I'm looking for, since I can probably get lost and just see everything :)

Posted: 10/5/14 at 10:40amI think I'd recommend "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time," and "You Can't Take it With You" (I concur that seeing James Earl Jones is an incredible experience which one should take advantage of if at all possible), I have not yet seen "Honeymoon in Vegas" but heard good things about it. "Disgraced" is a very well-acted, well written piece that I think is rather important. It is excellent (I don't envy the Tony voters who have to choose between this and Curious Incident) and I do recommend that as well.

If Billy Porter is still there, you should go see Kinky Boots - even if the touring company is coming to a city near you (not that I don't love Kyle but if you can see the original, you should). It's so fun.
And also, while the original cast was amazing, the current cast of Matilda is spectacular (Christopher Sieber is worth the trip alone - I just recently saw him as a standby at Pippin before he came to Matilda but this is so much MORE)...and so I recommend that as well. Although it's a show with kids about kids, it's really not a kids show.
I saw a preview of On the Town...it was a little long and dragged out, but had some amazing aspects to it. I loved Gentleman's Guide also but I am probably one of the few people here that didn't LOVE Pippin. It's just not my cup of tea..

Planning a trip in December as well. On my list is Beautiful, If/Then, Gentleman's Guide... And I may have time for 1, or possibly 2 more. I'm one of those crazy people who doesn't mind getting up early to try for rush tickets so it's hard for me to plan ahead and buy in advance.
I heard a rumor that they gave $40 seats to the people who don't win the if/then lotto. Is that still correct?

Sorry for the double post, but while I have your attention I wanted to ask is it ridiculous to plan to walk the Brooklyn Bridge that time of year (Weather wise)? It's a goal of mine I still haven't been able to do in all my visits.

You can't take it with you is a great piece of theatre, it is funny, and meaningful with some great performances especially from Annaleigh Ashford.
Cabaret is also an amazing show, Alan cumin will still be in it but Emma Stone will be the new Sally Bowls.

I will be in New York in December, as well. The shows I am most excited to see are Curious Incident, You Can't Take It With You, A Delicate Balance, On The Town, and Side Show.
Out of what will be playing I have already seen, I would definitely recommend Gentleman's Guide, Matilda, Beautiful, Hedwig, and Les Mis.

It's always a great time to walk on that bridge, definitely do that.
