We already know that “Wicked” would make a good Broadway musical because it IS one. But what about the other nine movies nominated this year for the Best Picture Oscar? Which would make the best play? The worst play? The best musical? Take the poll

Emilia Perez would certainly be the most fascinating one

Please God not Emilia Perez. I'd rather see a musical version of The Substance than Emilia get adapted.
Conclave could definitely work well as a Play though it feels like it would have been the other way around. I don't see it getting made into a Play after being a hit movie.
The Substance starring LaChanze and Celia Rose...bring it on.

This set is almost not fair - obviously Wicked is based on a Broadway musical. A Complete Unknown is a fairly conventional musician biopic that could be turned into a bio-musical easily. Emilia Pérez is already a musical that could probably be adapted to the stage, and Conclave is so based in dialogue and interpersonal drama that it practically feels like an adaptation of a stage work already.
The Brutalist is epic in scope but never loses its intimate focus on László's journey along the way and for that reason I could see someone finding a way to turn that into a musical - the two-act structure helps as well. The Substance could be turned into a campy musical a la Teeth or Death Becomes Her, but it probably works best as a movie.
I haven't seen Anora yet and I'm trying to not learn much about it until I do, so no comment. Nickel Boys I also haven't seen, but from what I understand the impact of the film is so inherently rooted in how it is filmed that it'd have to be completely reworked to fit the stage.

Emilia would only work if they make it super campy
I’d be down for an I’m Still Here musical. It would be a star vehicle. The Substance could be a fun campy musical.
Please don’t let Emilia Pérez anywhere near a stage. We need positive representation of Mexican and trans people, not that.
Conclave could be a fun opera.
