I could swear Elaine Stritch is one of the customers in "God That's Good" when Mrs Lovett first starts singing (Nice to see you, dearie, etc). Her name wasn't in the credits, but I've seen the movie twice, and was specifically looking for her the second time, so I'm nearly positive it was her. Does anyone know?

haha- That is SO weird, because in the exact same scene, I swear I saw the woman who plays Mrs. Weasley in the Harry Potter movies, but all my friends just said I was crazy.
Well, half of the Harry Potter cast is in the movie anyway, so it wouldn't surprise me...

i saw Elayne Boosler!
When I saw it the third time this afternoon with my friend (who's seen it all three times with me) swore she saw Aunt Petunia from Harry Potter in the God, That's Good scene.
I saw Sondheim's dead mother...
Elaine was the beggar woman.
*SPOILER*
Before the reveal.

Im pretty sure I know who your talking about , but its not Elaine. I dont know her name and I couldnt find it on the web, but I distinctly remember her from the recent production of Guys and Dolls in London l She played General Matilda Cartwright, and also was the woman behind the bar in the Havana scene.

OK -- I'm just hallucinating. Good to know! :)
It's not really a "cameo" by Anthony Steward Head had a line, I believe, right after Mircacle Elixir, even though his part was cut.
Yea, and I'm right next to Judy...
yeah what is it with EVERYONE from harry potter being in Sweeney Todd?
Under British law, any film made in England has to have either Michael Caine, Jude Law or Hugh Grant. If they are unavailable, then the cast of Harry Potter is required. Unless there's nudity - then Helen Mirren or Jenny Agutter are called upon.
I believe that rule could be put to test and actually hold up.
And TomMonster---Foxy Sondheim in the crowd scene?
Oh, that's rich.

I really enjoyed Donna McKechnie's dance solo in her razor costume. That was a nice touch.

It's Sweeney Weeney time
Ben Barker went away, but he just came home
BTW, has it been mentioned that the guy who is pictured as the gorge-himself-to-death Mr. Lovett in the photos around her parlor is the guy who played the father of the gorge-himself-to-death Augustus Gloop in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?
Oh, Lord.
Sweeney Weeney
Goosey Lucy...
At least she didn't sing "The Trick Chair and the Razor" in her blood red wrap-around.

You know at first I thought the McKechnie joke was lame but I had no idea it would carry so far.
Excellent.
Regarding Anthony Steward Head:
I didn't even notice him the first time but I saw it again yesterday and I had to stop myself from yelling out, "that's Anthony Steward Head!". He does have a line, he says "do you have an establishment of your own Mr. Todd?"
What a great surprise!
