Laura Osnes did the reading in 2012
and is perfect for this
I think sierra boggess could also pull it off very well

Completely stupid idea. It didn't work in 2001, if those clips are anything to go by it certainly didn't work in 2012, so what makes them think it will work now. Especially if they have whoever directed and did the choreography in those clips - awful. And who is that person playing the Audrey Hepburn role? Seriously.
As to Adam Guettel being a good choice - has he learned how to write a tune? :)
Don't get your hopes up about actually seeing this.
SHN (the presenter in SF) does not have the best track record on "pre-Broadway" shows:
Diner
Ever After
Grease (the 1996 version)
Ha'Penny Bridge
The Wiz (2006? La Jolla version)
Well thoses clips were a mess[to me] and those 4 male dancers-be nice SL.
Maybe I'm just tired of those beautiful old standards presented in the same old way and that corny tango!--yes 5 years have passed but think so has that whole idea.
I don't want a singing Princess and a reporter that wiggles his bum.
Oh gosh. Laura would be perfect for this. I wish. I don't want to see anyone else do it, now.

I know cindergolightly
i can totally see laura crushing this.....
Rockyroad-SHN other pre broadway shows that did a "little better"
Wicked
Beautiful
I honestly was very skeptical of Beautiful, and the two producers were able to make it it a very entertaining and enjoyable show....
Sounds like from people who saw it in 2012 that the book is still the weakest link, and getting someone completely amazing to play the princess. like Laura Osnes ....Audrey hepburn is some BIG SHOES to fill

SHN was not the lead producing team on either of the musicals you just listed though... and two successes out of several massive flops is not great

I'm curious about anybody presenting Grease in 1996 as "pre-Broadway" tryout, since the Weissler produced revival was in the middle of its 4 year run at the Eugene O'Neil at the time.

I haven't seen the movie since forever, but I do recall that although the story itself was slightly dull what made it very, very special was Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck at their most charming. I'm not sure if even Cole Porter can make up for them.
Do we have any word on who is on the creative team for this?
This seems like a missed opportunity for a musical with a new score. Poor Cole Porter. He's been recycled so many times. This just feels like High Society with a script tweak.
At least the music will be good, unlike a lot of musicals based on movies

The two lead producers on this, Paul Blake and Mike Bosner, are the ones who made Beautiful work. Blake also wrote the book for the production of Roman Holiday at The Guthrie. He had previously done a similar adaptation of White Christmas, which is the one that's played Bway a few seasons and toured successfully.
After the Guthrie, it seemed like the major problem was the book. Looks like for this incarnation they've hired new writers according to Playbill (http://www.playbill.com/article/roman-holiday-musical-sets-pre-broadway-premiere), "He is joined by Emmy-winning writers Kathy Speer and Terry Grossman ( The Golden Girls) for the latest incarnation."
Looks like someone finally got Blake to cave in and get some help, hopefully it helps!
Even David Ives couldn't fix White Christmas so I have doubts that the writers of a tv sitcom can make a great musical comedy book

I will be watching this closely, as my boyfriend loves Audrey Hepburn movies- but I agree that there's no reason for it to NOT have an original score.
Plus (I've said this before) it bugs me that they're calling it "The Cole Porter Musical." No. KISS ME KATE is the Cole Porter musical. ANYTHING GOES is the Cole Porter musical. Hell, RED HOT AND COLE is the Cole Porter musical!

After viewing the Guthrie clips I'm wondering why such overtly bad musical staging would be put on the internet? Did they think this would sell tickets?
