Tickets for the Osaka shows are on sale but if you are looking to buy online you'll have to go through the POB Japanese site, or Umeda's site. Both would require Japanese language reading skills. The Tokyo Theater Orb is more accessible to English speakers. Keep in mind that some shows are sold out already and those that are not are only selling S seat tickets. if i were you,I might look into having a friend in Japan purchase for you (if you have one that is) or go through a shopping service. I can ask some of my english speaking Takarauka fan pals as to what would be the best way to go about purchasing those tickets if you'd like me to.
I was waiting to see if the user would upload the whole thing before posting. On Sept, 27, TBS (Japanese TV channel) aired a special on the show. Unfortunately there is a lot of overdubbing during the rehearsal footage but there is an interesting interview with Hal and video of the costume parade they had a few weeks ago. Part 1 part 2 part3 part 4 . worth a look

and i agree that the staging looked boring to me. and its not a revue, and does have a story to follow. Its about Hal Prince's career and theres voice over in the show of him talking about the experience, show, etc..
"
Meh, I call that a revue--just like Sondheim on Sondheim though I'm sure others might disagree.

See, but the gimmick, if you can call it that, for Sondheim on Sondheim is he wrote every single song, it's a review of his actual work. With this it's not Prince's original "work." It's all from things he did work on, but it's not the same thing as hearing songs he wrote or seeing "Crunchy Granola Suite" the way Fosse staged it in "Dancin'."
Yes, I thought I said that on the previous page
Still, I see it as a revue because it appears to be a collection of songs (granted with one new one,) all chosen cuz of their association with Prince, joined by a basic theme and narration (Prince says in one interview he wants to focus on how big a part luck played in his success, which seems a tad disingenuous but...) So in those ways it's not a full blown bio musical, and it's not a jukebox musical.
Kamico thanks for the link. I do like the costumes. And nice to see the number from Grind in rehearsals around all of the standards.

I know it's not a finalized song list and I know you wanna hear the hits, but I'd also love to see and hear songs from major flops of his. Like "A Doll's Life didn't work at all, but man, I loved that number called..." kinda thing.
Eric Van Tielen just tweeted to Lin-Manuel Miranda this morning and thanked him for "visiting 'Prince of Broadway' yesterday" - I assume LMM did not go to Japan so I'm wondering where he was and what he saw? Is something going on in New York?

Rehearsals for the show are in NY, he probably stopped by!

They're still doing run throughs and won't be leaving for Japan till next week. They've also been inviting people to see rehearsals since last Thursday, Quite a few people have tweeted about seeing it and the general consensus seems to be "wow".
Oh, thanks! I have to admit I hadn't heard much about it until recently, but now I'm really intrigued, especially with this cast.

Well since half of the news about this show is in Japanese it's hard to keep up with it (I've had plenty of practice since I'm interested in The Takarazuka Revue, Sailor moon musicals, and generally all Toho stage productions.). The cast has been pretty good about tweeting and instagraming stuff about the show which is cool. When I started following shows in high school very few shows even had blogs.
I don't recall anyone posting links to the full clips of the numbers they staged for the press on Monday, so maybe these will peek your interest Karen24.
Personally, I really like what I've seen so far, I've watched Broadway Baby million times, mostly because I love watching Chie (Yuzuki Reon) dance and sing. I really like the finale as well. I am sure they'll love this in Japan (the revue style musical is still popular there.) We'll see if this makes it to BWay in the spring. Japanese media is pretty much convinced that it will, but it looks like the jury's still out here.
Ha I'm a big Takarazuka fan as well (I lost count and touch with the Sailor Moon musicals over a dance ago though :P )
I missed You've Got Possibilities--thanks for the link! It bears being noted that the Broadway Baby clip also has at least some of the opening number from Grind at the end of it.
The full ballet sequence also includes "Gentleman Jimmy" from Fiorello! and "Little Old New York" from Tenderloin.
The press event performances are unable to show the full sequences some of the shows receive. Company, for example, includes "Another Hundred People," "Company," "Ladies Who Lunch" and "Being Alive," but with all of the dialogue from the couples, not just Bobby singing solo. Cabaret includes "Willkommen," "If You Could See Her," "So What" and "Cabaret," etc.
The show will also feature pretty fully realized set pieces. Fiddler, Company, Cabaret and Follies, for example, will feature many elements of Boris Aronson's original designs. It's not just a bunch of people in evening clothes standing around a piano, like most musical revues.

Ohh, someone on the inside. Yea, I got the impression that what we saw on Monday was very abridged selections from the show. From what I recall from various Cast and crew tweets, Worst Pies is also in the Sweeny sequence and the ballet is somewhere around 8 minuets long (according to JRB).
I'm waiting for the show to get to Japan because that means opening night digest video possibilities.

Video footage from their first rehearsal in Tokyo and a message from Ramin on THIS page if anyone is interested. There is an article that goes with it, but it's in Japanese so......
Ramin looks sexy af. in that beginning, but he looks none too happy to be there with whatever he's singing.

They were all probably pretty jet lagged. They had their first rehearsal one day after landing there and Erin (one of their swings) tweeted that she could not sleep the night before and was up

I'm really curious as to why they picked Japan. It just seems like an odd choice
Ramin is still playing the Phantom LOL
12 pics were posted by someone involved on Facebook of scenes with scenery and costumes from act 1. Looks a tad cheap but they also did a wonderful job of incorporating many elements from the original designs for each sow

Lots of talented people doing what looks like a cruise ship review. Stroman fails yet again. I cannot see it being any better even with sets and costumes. How do you say good luck in Japanese?

Could be willing to go all out when show arrives on Broadway. The same design concept but more lavish and will be worth it once show is shown to succeed. Any pictures?
