I apologize for starting a new topic, but the search function is simply not helping me find what I need.

I understand that for this rush you must arrive very early in the morning. That I am fine with doing if it is worthwhile.

What I am concerned with is the quality of seats.

My mom has not joined me in seeing a show since February 2009 and she is a major fan of Sean Hayes'. I want to do everything I can to get the best possible seats, barring premium seating.

If the quality of the seats is nothing great then I would rather do TKTS or the box office (standard sales).

Does anyone have any insights?

Thank you all for your help! :)

I rushed maybe two weeks ago on a Wednesday night. Walked up to the box office at around 6:30 and was able to get a ticket. My seat was located in the last row of the mezz, though I'm not sure if this is where all the rush seats are. Though the Broadway is a big theater and you're pretty far from the stage, it wasn't a bad seat. It's nice to have a full stage view of all the choreography.

You don't need to arrive early to procure rush. I got to the box office at 11:30 two Tuesdays ago and easily got seats for the evening performance. All tickets are in the rear mezzanine, which offers a fine view but is far from the stage. The mezzanine at the Broadway is a barn. My seats were in the second row of the rear mezz, extreme side, but there was no obstruction.

Based on what I know, TKTS tickets for the show are often mid-to-rear mezz, so if you can rush, do it. That said, it is student rush and they are strict about checking IDs, so make sure that you have one readily available.

Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

Based on what you have said, I will spring for regular price or student rush, depending upon my mom's preferences. Just want her to have a good time.

Thank you for sharing your experiences! :)

I gotta tell you, for that show I just shelled out the cash for regular priced seats in the front row of the mezz. I despise the rear mezz of that theater because the stage is so far away the people on it look like ants. I think they're some of the worst seats on Broadway.

You're welcome. And if your Mom is a real big fan of Hayes', then she'll probably actually want to SEE him which she won't be able to do from back there.

Plus, I really liked show (I know a lot of people didn't) and those closer seats made it all the more enjoyable.

I'm bumping this thread because I'm thinking of rushing a matinee on Wednesday, and this show is my first choice. But first I have a couple of questions that I hope you guys can answer:

1. About what time should I get to the box office Wednesday morning? I know that the show has been doing well this summer (especially following the Tonys), so I should probably get there before it opens at 10. The earliest I can get there is probably around 8:45-9:00. WIll that be good enough? I know some people have said they had no problem walking up and getting seats for evening performances, but I don't know if matinees have been more crowded.

2. I know that they only accept student IDs, but are they accepting both high school and college? I feel like when SHREK was playing the Broadway, they only accepted college IDs for rush (I could be remembering incorrectly, though). Just want to make sure I'm prepared.

Thanks everyone!

If your mom is a huge fan of Sean Hayes then you should think about their 'premium' seating, which is only $186 during the week. Compared to other shows like THE ADDAMS FAMILY which has their 'premium' seating at $300, PROMISES, PROMISES is quite affordable. I've since have seen the show 4 times (furthest I've sat was Orchestra Center, Row E) and I wouldn't even consider sitting anywhere further back. Seeing the show this close IS a must -- just to see every little nuance and facial expression from not only Sean and Kristin but for ALL the obvious reasons: Katie Finneran. I can't fathom what it must be like seeing her delicious performance without seeing her full performance up close. No words can describe how powerful Kristin delivers those songs when she moves center stage. Wow! Or catching ALL of Sean's comic touches.

I'm looking to rush for this Sunday's matinee, and was wondering what it's been like lately. Anyone have an estimate about what time I should get there?

I did rush on Thursday and got there around 8am and no one was there yet. No one else got there till around 8:45 and the line really started to grow around 9:15am. I was put in rear mezz Q 114

I did rush for the matinee on Wednesday and got to the box office around 10:20. I got a seat in the rear mezz, row P, seat 107.

I'm bumping this to ask about rush on Saturdays. Should I basically just be sure to be there before the box office opens, or is it significantly more crowded on Saturdays?

^It is more crowded on Saturdays (the line looped around the corner), but I think that as long as you're there when it opens you should be okay. There are a lot of rush seats indeed (plus there's two shows on Sat.). I got there on a Saturday in July just at about 10am and was wayyyy in back of the line around the corner, yet I still got a ticket. If you want to get there a little earlier just to be on the safe side, that's fine too.

way more crowded on sundays. I went three sundays ago and Was the 18th person on line at 2 hours before the box office opened. I reccomend getting there earier because for the student rush they only have 20 seats availible. I had center of the last row in Mezz. Not great seats at all but for $30 who could complain.
