When Reinking replaced Allen in CHARITY did she perform the funky 80's rewritten version of "I'm The Bravest Individual"...? Or did they use the traditional version for Reinking. I can't picture Reinking singing the groovy Allen version.
And lets not use this thread to post how "bad" Reinking was in the role. I am just curious what version of the song she performed.

I saw it with Ann Reinking and I honestly don't remember how that song was performed.
Keeping your wishes in mind, I won't comment on her overall performance though!

All those 'new' orchestrations were created for the 1986 Broadway revival, therefore that is how everyone (including Bebe Neuwirth as Charity) performed them. All this was part of the 1986 Broadway revival of SWEET CHARITY and also used in the 1987 tour of this production with Donna McKechnie.

Posted: 6/25/08 at 4:44pmI was there for the Sunday matinee when Ann drank from the beer bottle in the closet scene and ran off stage - you could hear screaming from the wings (story goes that the prop guy didnt thoroughly clean out the bottle and there was ammonia in it). Curtain came down for 20 minutes and Bebe continued the show. Ironically that night on Murder She Wrote was a story about an understudy in a play poisoning the star!!!!!! Ann's platinum wig was horrific.

The recent 2005 Broadway revival with Christina Applegate (Charlotte d'Amboise was her standby) and Denis O'Hare:

Ugh. Those bitch mods deleted my Brody tribute signature.
Anyway. I think the only time CHARITY should be done next is for a summer at City Center summer stars. The original book, orchestrations, and CHOREOGRAPHY. The revival got such a bad wrap for the new and mostly awful choreography, and new orchestration and book. Though I do think the ending was dated, and needed the rewrite by Simon.
But since we're getting DAMN YANKEES with the original book, orchestrations, and FOSSE'S original choreography. I think CHARITY should be done there the same in a few years.
