I just saw Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick in the Odd Couple. They were fabulous. Added bonus was that Mr. Lane himself was collecting money for BCEFA at the door :) Does anyone know how long they are staying with the show and whether the roles will be recast when they leave -- or will they show end its run?

The show's a limited run. ________________________________________________________________ "Stand still, how can I shoot you if you keep moving?" -The Producers
The show 'closes' in April. However, the producers may woo Nathan and Matthew back. If they don't bite, it will either close, or continute, with Brad Garrett as Oscar.
Lane and Broderick's contracts might be up in April but the show is listed as open-ended on Playbill.com Playbill
"Smart! And into all those exotic mystiques -- The Kama Sutra and Chinese techniques. I hear she knows more than seventy-five. Call me tomorrow if you're still alive!"
Pab, that's exactly why I am asking because I thought it was a limited run and then saw playbill.com. I thought Brad Garret was so funny and stole the show -- not sure if I could see him as Oscar. Any ideas for replacements?
I can see either Michael C. Hall or Hunter Foster as Felix. Maybe Raul Esparza as Oscar.

Azenberg has made very public references to extensions but nothing has been announced. The current run is only through the beginning of April and though there has been some talk of Garrett taking over, I can't say that I see him in the role. He took quite a bit of time to grow into the Murray role but I don't think he has the acting chops to take on the Oscar role and remain on the stage for over 2 hrs.
We'll see. Right now, there is no new word on extension OR replacements. Unless they cast this show with actors that will have an equal draw for an extension after Lane and Broderick leave, I don't see it selling out. The show is a period piece, innocent and indicative of the roots of sitcom, but nonetheless a great piece of writing. I just think that much of the grousing about the show being dated will haunt it with actors that aren't as big a draw as Lane and Broderick may be. It would be a lot to overcome. I enjoyed the show a lot but then I was able to remember the actual time period when this show was current...so I guess I'm just old.
BTW, forget what Playbill says. Go to the Ticketmaster site and look for tickets. You'll see that they are only selling through 4/2.
In a recent interview with Gary Beach on Playbill, the interviewer joked that he (Gary) and Roger Bart should take over for Nathan and Matthew. How hilarious would the two of them be? I would pay good money to see that - I think they would be fantastic in the roles.
"If you start from a place of joy and charm, you can get away with a lot in the second act. It may be that that's my life. I'm not sure."

Oh Gary and Roger would be awesome together. I never got to see Gary or Roger in the Producers, but I loved Gary in La Cage Aux Folles and Roger's George on DH so creepy.

God, I would have loved to have seen them in this. Sadly (as you all know, I'm sure), they're sold out til who knows when and I'm going to NY at the end of this month.
