Question about Nick Wyman and DRS

I was wondering if someone could help me out. I noticed on ibdb.com that Nick Wyman was the standby for Lawrence with the original cast of DRS. Does anyone know if he ever went on? I realize that as the standby, he'd get first dibs at going on, BUT I don't know how long he was there, how often John Lithgow called out, if ibdb is correct, etc. Anyone know for sure?

I think he had a prior commitment.

Indeed - he never performed the role.

He never went on as far as I know. John Lithgow is very reliable. He was a pretty good Thenardier in LES MIZ and I can see him as Lawrence. Maybe he'll get a shot with the tour on even back on Broadway sometime soon... with the next cast change.

He never went on...he was actually fired because they felt he was too "dark" to play the role. This happened before Lithgow's first vacation, so Tom Galantich went on then, and then they hired the, uhh, new standby. Gawd do i wish they kept Wyman.

I was wondering what happened with that. I saw him in the audience during one of the first previews. He was very excited to be a part of it.

wickedrentq--

I'm assuming you mean that the powers that be felt that his "take" on Lawrence was too "dark?" Anyway, that sucks...

I'm not entirely sure Baritone. I just saw very vague things posted when it happened.

Nope. Nick never went on. Great pity.

However, right NOW he's in the Fringe production of "The Fartiste" in a really nice role that shows just how GREAT his singing voice really is.

And he'll be in the upcoming "Desperate Measures" production at the New York Musical Theatre Festival.

But the sooner he gets back to Broadway the better. My fingers are crossed.

Never saw him. But when I saw the show for the first time back in Nov (That was when i was looking forward to see John Lithgow.) I saw Denis Parlato. He was good and a very nice man!

Thank you everybody. It's a pity he never went on; I can see him potentially being really good.
