Hi everybody! I'm working on a school project and for it I need quotes about theatre. I was wondering if anyone knew of any good ones which they could suggest. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you
About theater and from a show (The Producers);
"It ain’t no mystery if it’s politics or history/The thing you gotta know is everything is showbiz.”
I always loved this Elaine Stritch quote-
"Let's get this over with and get to the bar."
Theater quotes about what specifically? If you give us a better idea of what you are looking for, we can be of more help.
But here's a couple of generic ones.
There's no such thing as small parts, only small actors.
It ain't over till the fat lady sings.
The show must go on.
"Musical comedy: the most glorious words in the English language.” - Julian Marsh in 42nd Street, not sure who wrote the script
"We're actors - we're the opposite of people!" - Tom Stoppard's Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead
"Theatre is life with the dull bits cut out." - Alfred Hitchcock
"Broadway is a very special place, filled with very special people, people who can sing and dance, often at the same time."-Spamalot

oops sorry! My original post was very vague. What I'm looking for are serious quotes about theatre. Here is an example of one:
"Theater is so critical because it has always been able to release people from their isolation..."-Marsha Norman
So anything like that would be great.
And Autopilot, I did google it as well. I just thought I would ask her because I thought people here would know some good ones as well.
From "All ABout Eve"........
The theatah, the theatAH - what book of rules says the theater exists only within some ugly buildings crowded into one square mile of New York City? Or London, Paris, or Vienna? Want to know what the theater is? A flea circus. Also opera. Also rodeos, carnivals, ballets, Indian tribal dances, Punch and Judy, a one-man band - all theater. Wherever there's magic and make-believe and an audience - there's theater. Donald Duck, Ibsen, and the Lone Ranger. Sarah Bernhardt and Poodles Hanneford, Lunt and Fontanne, Betty Grable, Rex the Wild Horse, Eleanora Duse - they're all theater. You don't understand them, you don't like them all - why should you? The theater's for everybody - you included, but not exclusively - so don't approve or disapprove. It may not be your theater, but it's theater for somebody, somewhere...It's just that there's so much bourgeois in this ivory green room they call the theater.
