This is INSANE! HOT FEET has 0 noms?? I mean come ON! What else could it be? AND don't tell me about OPRAH! That is all kissing ass, just for OPRAH!!
I may not be in this business, but not even a nod for Maurice Hines and his choreography? CRAZY!!!! Guys... you don't have to like the show to know that the dancing and amazing talent of the dancers, are above and beyond any of the movement on Broadway this season. MY GOD!! Hot Feet is the only Dance Driven Musical out there!! Broadway is full of SH*T! I will never become a producer.
Go ahead respond your usual negative comments you all. I pray Hot Feet stays open and tours and makes tons of money!
If Oprah didn't put her lable (cause that's what her name is) on the marquee, it would have NEVER done as well. WEDDING SINGER????? PAH-LEEEESE!!!

Maybe it didn't get any nominations because the people voting didn't like it? Would that be too revolutionary a concept?

Just because the dancers are amazing does not mean the choreography is good. Haven's seen it, I'm just saying.

Candida - I understand passionate feelings, and i know you must be disappointed. BUT, your categorizations are inflamatory and borderline insulting. Seriously, take a step back, take a deep breath and put things in perspective.

DUH!!!! Of course that's why. It's not a "Revolutionary" concept, smart ass! Obviously, those put into positions of the voting panel are put there for a reason. I would love to know if there is a equal and diverse representation of theatre goers on that panel!

Actually Candida, I will agree with you on one thing. I was seriously surprised that it didn't even get a choreography nod. I figured a DANCE musical would get at least a nod there. However, I understand the rest of it not getting nominations, not because it sucked, but because there were so many other shows out there that deserved recognition too. What's with the dance thing though? Drowsy didn't need a nod there, it has one company dance number and a fairly simple tap routine that any dancer could do.

This is a true statement. However, being a dancer and having seen both Hot Feet and Movin' Out, I can easily say that the choreography for Hot Feet should have been nominated. I mean Movin' Out was and won (which it shouldn't have by the way, that choreography was terrible, Twyla has used it many times before). Hot Feet's choreography was actually pretty good.

DG Thanks sweet heart. I appreciate your calming words. You are right, I do need to step back. I'm just soo upset, because I also work in a corporation, where I battle this race issue almost on a daily basis. I guess I'm sensitive to it. I was looking to theatre and especially Hot Feet to give me a glimmer of hope. Racism is a very very subtle issue. You need to be a minority to reall understand how profoundly painful and covert and SUBTLE it really is.

Hot Feet's choreography had nothing to do with character and/or plot. I think that would be a major consideration for theatre awards.

I think people are missing what's really funny.

The fact that Candida thinks HOT FEET is the only dance driven musical out there.

That's right, and that's also why the award is called "Best Choreography" and not "Best Choreography that Furthers the Plot and Provides a More In-Depth Understanding of the Musical's Characters".

FOA - I think the point is that it is focussed on dancing - a la FOSSE - not that it's the only show with dancing.
