What did you expect it to get a nomination for besides choreography?
Best Musical?
The Actors?
The Creative Team?
All of those elements of the musical aren't even worthy of gracing a Broadway stage. HOT FEET will close shortly after the TONYS, mark my words.

FONatic! It's NOT about me. It's NOT about me being "proven wrong". Don't be an ass-hole OK? It's about being a minority in a "****ed up process"!!! Bye! I'm otta here!!!
FO..acting like a child?
That's an insult to children everywhere.
Candida, how old are you, dear? If you are over 18 you should discuss valium or xanax with your doctor.

Have you read BWW's story about a "Hot Feet" dancer?

Oh look...Tuttle made a joke.
Or...at least...tried.

Maybe if Hot Feet had been better received, it would have gotten a nomination.
FOA, your defense mechanisms are honestly the best I've seen...ever. The "I am rubber, you are glue" phase never passed with you I guess.
Your responses are as humorous as this thread.
And your presence is as useless as this thread, too.
I saw HOT FEET promised it was the next IN MY LIFE.
I was sorely disappointed.
It was just mind-numbingly boring. They couldn't even do camp right.
Foa, seriously though, if you feel as though the thread is useless, why are you continuing to comment? I am commenting cause I feel that Hot Feet shold have got a choreography nod. Why waste your time commenting on something you feel is useless?
Wow. This thread is loads of fun.
And, as far as minorities go, Candida, this website's pretty chock full of 'em. Some of us might not be racial minorities, but I am not exactly in the most warm, open work environment for das faggots, as it were.
Hot Feet was not a good show, therefore, 0 noms.
Candida made a statement and I am disagreeing with it.
People have disagreed with my opinions on this board before. That's how life is.
If you don't like people disareeing with you, then don't post here.
Once you've been on this board long enough you'll realize that.
It was Candida that resorted to name calling...not I.
I'm just glad no Canadians were nominated. We don't want any of those moose lovers on our Tony stage.
You know what would make Broadway World a truly great web site? A HOT FEET filter. Any time that msuical materpiece Hot Feet came up, it would be served front and center on the landing page. That way I'd never miss another exciting thread...
I am not saying disagreeing is bad. I am saying that you said this thread is "useless". Thus you are not only disagreeing, but calling everyone else's views unimportant and pointless. If this is how you feel, why don't you just go away knowing that you are right? It just doesn't make sense to me.
I'm pretty sure that the nominatin committee isn't racist, considering there are minorites on the committee.
It's very possible that the dancing in Hot Feet is amazing. The committee probably decided to can the show completely. there have been times before that the Tonys have completely looked over a show in its entirety because of bad reviews and/or just plain not liking the show. The technical elements and the acting may be superb, but if the show has an awful book or score, or the directing is a mess, the negative elements tend to overshadow the positive. It has happened before and it will happen again.
Also Remember - there is an oustanding prejudice against jukebox musicals.
After seeing most of the new musicals this season, I am surprised that Hot Feet's choreography wasn't nominated. Granted, some of it might have been repetitive, but it was still executed nicely.

Having seen hot feet, I am GLAD it didn't get a nomination. I am not slamming anyone for liking it (or anything else). I didn't like the show as I found the music wasted, the acting poor, and the story poorly constructed. Why I didn't like the choreogrpahy was that it was way to repetative. There were some good moves and sections, but the cohesiveness of the dance wasn't there. If I saw one more person make fists, hold there forearms flat to the floor and pound their arms and pelvis back and forth....
An award should go to the best of the best. This was not the best choreogrpahy this year.
IMHO.
Mercedes Ellington is on the nomination committee. She's a great choreographer. I suggest that you send all questions to her representatives.
I also wish that Candida would stop playing the race card. This is the second such thread started by this person and it does everyone a disservice.
"Hot Feet's choreography had nothing to do with character and/or plot. I think that would be a major consideration for theatre awards."
Perfectly said, couldn't agree more.
The Color Purple

Elisabeth Withers-Mendes

All black people in an all black musical.
I am African American and really don't see where racism played a part in Hot Feet not getting the nomination for Choreography. If there was any racism involved in the nominations, Color Purple may not have gotten as many as it did. (And please don't say it is because of Oprah!) I personally am not a fan of Maurice Hines. And my friends that have seen the show (I see it in June) say that the choreography was fun for a bit but got repetitive.

Not denying that racism exists, but I'm not quite sure how "Hot Feet" not getting a Tony nod can be considered racist when "The Color Purple" recieved several nominations.
