The Variety and THR reviews are spot on. Saw the play last night and was dazzled. It's a stunning piece of work. Besides the fabulous writing and wonderful acting, I have to say that the set design is impeccable, and it has some of the best lighting I've ever seen, allowing the paintings to come to life, rightfully establishing them as characters in the piece. Truly beautiful.

A few quibbles from Talkin's Broadway, but still "one of the season's most colorful successes." http://www.talkinbroadway.com/world/index.html

Keep the reviews comin'; after purposefully avoiding any "spoilers," except for my knowledge from my art major BFA days, I finally saw RED tonight and my God, it was exhilarating.
The Post gives it 2.5 stars. Mixed on the play itself.

Red is for a very limited season only, yes?
Does anyone think with great notices they may extend?
"my God, it was exhilarating."
So scripps agrees with Scripps2.

Happy to see these positive responses and reviews. I saw the play the other day and was knocked out, particularly by Alfred Molina's performance - also loved the set and the way the lighting changed the colors and textures of the paintings. The play is dense and gives you a lot to think about. Melancholy and funny and moving and thought provoking - I'll take that from a play any time.
