awww, did Wax Lion just ask me out on a date?
Now I'm picturing myself sharing a table at some place I don't know exists with a four-inch-tall Wax Lion. (Why does Caliente Cab sound so familiar?)
Em, it's at 21 Waverly (@ Greene St.) in the village. Can we share a margarita? Wax Lion doesn't drink (or eat) that much. Promise.
Love,
Wax Lion
I'm underage, silly. We can share a soda, though! You can even sit in my lap.
:-0
Okay, diet coke then...with lime. I'm pretty tame and can sit in a lap.
Love,
Wax Lion
I have a comfy lap!
This will be fun. It'll be so... romantic?
I saw Wax Lion.
And awwwwwwwe, Emcee and Wax Lion have a date!
...Waitaminute. Is Wax Lion cheating on dear Kyle?
*gasp!*
How scandalous.
I don't really have anything to add. I'm just stating my love of the movie and of Wax Lion.

Just adding some RENT movie love. :) Lots of love.
I enjoyed seeing Wax Lion in the movie. I wanted to say something, but nobody that was with me would have had any idea what I was talking about. Ah well!

Awww, I live right around the corner from that Caliente Cab. They have REALLY good stuff there. :o)
Just wanted to say I loved the movie and I'm seeing it again tonight! I am pumped because the last time I saw it was a week ago and that is far too long to go without seeing Rent! lol, I will look out for you Wax Lion, I didn't see you the last 2 times I saw it.

Although the score is still exciting and it was passionately performed, the movie did not work. It had a lot of energy and it was never dull or embarrassing, but it made no sense. It seemed like a disconnected and choppy musical revue with no point. Adam Pascal was a hole on the screen and didn't bring any conviction to his scenes with Rosario Dawson (a sweet and sexy Mimi), so that the central relationship between them never came across. (Example--you didn't want to leave the vulgar, lively "La Vie Boheme" to follow them out into the snow and listen to them whine.) Tracie Thoms has a beautiful, strong voice and a great camera face and she managed a wonderful slow burn in response to the overacted antics of her screen partner, Idina Menzel. (Idina's features are frightening in closeup and she projected WAY too much--I thought she was about to swallow the camera. And why did she perform her first number with her hands folded across her throat--to keep her vocal chords from spilling out?) The rest of the cast was incredible, but there's no escaping the fact that they all looked, not only too old, but too healthy, toned, and well-fed--it was hard to believe any of them were on the verge of death.
In the end, I think this movie will be remembered like the movie versions of "Hair" and "The Who's Tommy" were remembered. All were wildly popular, rule-breaking, trend-setting projects, and all were filmed too late by clumsy, no-longer-hip directors. And all of them retain traces of their original excitement, even though none of them actually works as a movie.
Hmm ... sorry ya feel that way, Ro.
Now back to our regularly scheduled "love" thread. :)
I <3 Wax Lion too, even though we have yet to meet!
I loved it.
I saw Wax Lion!
"Hey, our sh*t's back."
And I LOVED Adam Pascal's hair, not gonna lie.

Yay RENT love. Other than the moments already got mentioned (especially Merry Christmas, Bitches)... must say i LOVED the expression Roger/Adam gave during the line, "The narration crackles and pops with incendiary wit." And, of course, Anthony's tango.
Why have i not noticed this wax lion in the loft...
Here's some more RENT! love.
I also noticed Wax Lion.

I saw Wax Lion the second time I saw the movie. A beautiful cameo, if I may say so. I wish I could go on a date with Wax Lion, but I live in California. I'm not sure if Wax Lions like California. I wouldn't want Wax Lion to melt Much RENT movie love <3

I loved it. The performers were all great. My only complaints are about the adaptaton: I missed the big "Christmas Bells" sequence, with everyone singing simultaeuosly leading up to Maureen's entrance, and I wish they had not cut the lines about Benny paying for Angel's funeral. It added some depth to Benny's character.
