Hm. Wonder what the attraction was. Wonder what their signs are...

*looks at the pic of Adam and his sparkly jeans that Emcee posted*
Oh dear...oh dear indeed...
Thread jacking to talk about those jeans is not a problem.
Now, I will admit to my loving of M/R slash. I read it, I write it, I luffs it. Canon? No, but it's all good.
And, I couldn't care less about there being no slashy...undertones? If there were it would of been very weird and not Rent at all. *shrug*

Exactly. It would have been another story. How many gay couples does a plot need, for pete's sake? (Disclaimer: don't read that as anti-gay, ok? I'm all for everybody doing whatever they like as long as it's legal and doesn't harm anyone.) Aren't the slashes happy with the ones they got? Plus, who would Roger and Mimi hook up with if everyone was gay... :)

LOL lovepuppy. I agree though. I think the hug was a little cheesy, but still a great ending to the song.
I quite enjoyed the hug. I enjoyed all of Mark's scenes during WYO, and the last part on the roof.
The Cliff? Special, very special.
But, I liked the hug.
I too like the hug. Those are two very huggable men.
Didn't Adam also wear the sparkly jeans to Bravo! Broadway's Best? When he sang Pinball Wizard? Or was that just the light and me wanting to see him in them, therefore - hallucinating? >_>

I *think* he wore them there, not 100% sure.
Yes, he did. That's also when he and Daphne sang WYO, and when he sang Suddenly Seymour with Mandy Moore.
Mmmk, because I *believe* I remember watching it and I saw the sparkles and just smiled the whole time. ^_^

I too thought the hug was nice. I didn't think it was worth reading into at all until I started hearing about these "Slash" people. Actually, I think the film doesn't entirely address exactly how good of friends M & R are until you see that powerful--yet masculine--hug at the end of that song. Sweet.
The Cliff? I laughed when I first read the Britney comparisons. She's so not on top-of-mind. I was enjoying watching his hair flail in the breeze... :)
OK, off work from now kids, must go. Perhaps I"ll check back tonight. Have a happy Rent-filled evening.
Hahahaha! I LOVE SPARKLY JEANS! That makes me SO happy! What is he doing in that picture w/his hand...grabbing his crotch? LOL. Since Broadway's Greatest Love Songs is on DVD (Adam sings SOL, Elaborate Lives and part of Love is Sweeping the Country in that!), is Broadway's Best on DVD? If it is, I WANT IT!
And, as stated before, I liked the hug! I thought it was really sweet! Guys can hug w/out being gay, like girls. Guys ARE allowed to show emotion. It doesn't hurt them or make them any less masculine.
Nah, there's no DVD of it. No recording, other than if you taped it way back when.
Darn! *cries unhappily* No sparkly pants for me!!!

walkingthroughfire, do you know where I could get Broadway's Greatest Love Songs on DVD? I looked on amazon, but couldn't find anything...

I loved the film, etc. etc., but can someone please tell me why M&R dumped the burning posters/screenplays from the garbage can into the street? Probably a stupid question, but I've seen the movie three times and my friends and I always look at each other like, "Um, it looks pretty, but WTF?"
And those sparkly pants are very... tight.
My friend asked Anthony that. His answer? The flame was getting too high.

I absolutely loved the film. Some highlights for me:
*Angel's "bouncy bounce" had me cracking up.
*Adam's fluffy hair (which my 62 year old wanted to pet!)
*"Merry Christmas B**ches!"
*"Don't get your a$$ kicked this time!"
*Thinking that Rosario made a kick a$$ Mimi!
*The cliff. Come on ya'll know you love it.
Luvtheemcee, you don't need an excuse to post the sparkly jeans, they speak for themselves.

eek! those sparkly jeans made my night!
Adam + Sparkly Jeans = WALKING SEX
I loved all of the movie...especially Collins' random bar dissappearance. I kinda sat there and was liek "Hmmm, that can't be right"

I love Anthony's explanation for the fire. I think we were all wondering the same thing :]

Oops, put this post previously in another thread but it's more appropriate here:
Btw--does anyone else think the line "all the scars from the nevers and maybes die" is the saddest line in the world a person can think of about their life? Not sure if anyone has ever discussed this before, here or anywhere, but it's one of the most telling things about Mimi's character, and how she got to the point she's at when we meet her, IMHO. Even Rosario didn't discuss it in any of her interviews about her character in the movie. The line just makes me cry while I"m singing along...
I've always found that line to be poignant and telling. Most of us have had promises broken, by people that we believe in or even to ourselves, and they often do leave scars depending on their severity. To me it sounds like Mimi had more than her share of them and perhaps of the worst sort. The kind that make a young girl leave her family and try to forget her scars through drugs and dangerous lifestyle. It's definitely something that could have been further explored. As it is, it's kind of buried in that song.
