RENT PRICE INCREASE #1

I found out last night that RENT increased there prices
They went from
Monday- Thursday
$95 Orc & Front Mezz
$45 Rear Mezz
$50 Side Boxes
Friday- Sun
$100 Orc & Front Mezz
$50 Rear Mezz
%50 Side Boxes
To
All Performances
$110 Orc & Front Mezz
$55 Rear Mez
$50 Boxes
Y did they increase the prices? Will they still be doing good after lottery discounts last time I was there my friends got Rear Mezz for $25.
I hope this doesn't affect the lottery price

I thought my rent was going up.
I've already seen RENT, so it's OK.

"Y" is not a word.
And maybe it is a temporary increase to cash in on Pascual/Rapp's return. The producers would be foolish to increase prices permenantly.

The prices are half these. TKTS and all.
Except on a Saturday night, who pays top dollar for Rent?

Off the top of my head, all other musicals on Broadway have been $110 or higher for top-price tickets for some time now. Sounds like RENT is finally increasing it's prices to match the competition. Hopefully they don't shoot themselves in the foot, especially after Rapp & Pascal leave the production.
Regardless, there will probably still be plenty of discounts to be had. Also, most other shows charge more than $55 for their rear mezz, so that is still a pretty good price in comparison.
I don't think the lottery price will change either. It's been $20 for 11 years now, and has stayed $20 even when other ticket prices increased.

Lottery is still $20. Last night they also offered $50 Partial View and $30 Rear Mezzanine to the people who lost the lotto. TKTS had tickets for %50 off.
re: RENT PRICE INCREASE #8
Posted: 8/28/07 at 3:56pmIs the lottery $20? A couple of years ago they had raised it to $25. Did they reverse that?
re: RENT PRICE INCREASE #9
Posted: 8/28/07 at 4:15pmThe only people this price increase impacts is tourists. Everybody else will use the discount codes that are available everywhere. I just got a discount code e-mailed to me for $50 Orchestra seats for performances beginning October 7th. Tourists don't know any better, and will pay the $110, so it doesn't hurt any of us for the producers to increase prices. It just means the show will make more money and assure that it will remain on Broadway longer. They're not raising the discount code prices, so we needn't complain.

Posted: 8/28/07 at 4:18pmWow- I don't remember so many people defending Wicked or Young Frankenstein price hikes. IS it just Rent that can raise their prices or does everyone get to do it?
re: RENT PRICE INCREASE #11
Posted: 8/28/07 at 8:34pmWhy would they not raise their prices. There are discounts if you are smart enough to look for them, and the prices are falling to $50 after Adam and Anthony leave. Supply and demand. I used to be able to secure a third row (ie. first available row)seat a month or two before seeing the show. That isn't going to happen with Adam and Anthony in the cast. And it is great. Phantom is running at $110 for orchestra, and that show has been around forever!

re: RENT PRICE INCREASE #13
Posted: 10/12/07 at 7:50pmI'm surprised no one corrected "there prices".

re: RENT PRICE INCREASE #15
Posted: 10/12/07 at 10:35pmIt does seem that they are getting ready for that Holiday Rush period. As long as they offer discounts here, it doesn't matter too much. That amt. does seem like the standard on Broadway now.
re: RENT PRICE INCREASE #16
