The other day, my friend told me that he heard RENT was closing from our drama teacher. Is this true? I know ticket sales were going down but I was pretty suprised. Now, if this has been a known fact for a while and I look like an idiot, I've been out of the broadway loop for a little bit. Thanks for any info.
Oy vey. No. It's doing just fine.

Rumors like this should never go near this board. This is obviously made up. Take you lies elsewhere. Yes, it sounds harsh, but no drama teacher in their right mind would say that.
Why, are all drama teachers in constant possession of correct information? A drama teacher is just as capable as anyone else of passing on hearsay. Who says this teacher couldn't have heard it from someone.
The bottom line is that it's unreliable, but your claim that as a drama teacher this person could clearly not possibly be ill-informed is ridiculous.
Good God, give it a rest. How many times does a thread like this have to appear. It always seems like the same story, "I heard from a friend of mine...."
Perhapes your drama teacher was on ticketmaster and thought it was closing when she saw you couldn't buy tickets past a certain month. I know that happens with some people who don't understand how the whole process works, and they think the show is closing.

My math teacher told me that Idina is coming back to Wicked (in USA) and is going to play Fieryo.
One could only wish that this outdated pile of trash would end, we can only hope!
I don't see why anyone shouldn't be able to ask this kind of question. The poster stated that he/she had been out of the Broadway loop and was just trying to ask people who have more info. So the question was answered, all a person is doing by bashing the poster is keeping the thread alive when it could just be answered and then go off the boards.
God told me he's the reason In My Life closed. He was upset at his portrayal in the show and so he cursed the show.

Which will die first, rent or this thread? Place your bets!
If Rent were actually closing, there would already have been 3 dozen threads on the board, press releases, other news articles, retrospective photo galleries on NYTimes.com, etc. Being "out of the loop" doesn't give someone an excuse for not using common sense.
I don't see any problem with asking a question like this here. What better place to get the truth and stop the rumors?

Are you referring to Rent or this thread?

That is so rude! It's obvious he was talking about Rent!
oh please ,what was rude was calling the show trash. I thought actor was very funny!! My vote goes for this thread.
It may seem harsh but, the fact is, RENT closing threads appear at least every single month. They honestly get tiresome so you cant blame people for being sick of constantly having to explain that RENT closing is no little thing and will not go by unnoticed. Whenever it closes it will be HUGE news, I assure you.
^ Basically what EverythingIsRENT said. The reason people are annoyed at this thread is because it's asked about Rent at least once a month. And those months are good months.
Also, because some Rentheads still get freaked out by such rumors and keep asking what the chances of Rent closing are, here's the obligitory "logic" post in the monthly "Rent closing" thread:
a) Compared to most Broadway shows, Rent costs very little to run.
b) Rent has been drawing sizable crowds since the release of the film.
Put a) and b) together and you say "Look at that, Rent is making plenty of money and can most definitely stay afloat and, due to its low production costs, might even survive into the 22nd century in which case they'll exhume the bodies of the OBC for the big 150th and phew I'm so glad it's not closing soon, it all makes so much sense to me now."
If that stops just one person from posting another one of these next month, I'll be happy. It's just a shame I won't be able to get to the other one.
The rumours have been going around for at least 5 years now
Trust me, if Rent was closing, you'd know
do you think the producers realize how many suicides they will cause if/when the closing notice goes up!? seriously, it could get ugly.

i wish rent was closing. no actually i take it back. if it did close we'd just have tons of thousands of annoying fans screaming and complaining about it instead of constantly praising it. Then again which would i prefer?
sure, rent is okay at the very most. But honestly it's nothing special. Actually it's really pretentious. it tries too hard and I don't see what the big deal is at all. i agree with rosscoe(au).

Uh-oh, Isabella2 is about to be trampled by hate mail...just kidding.
Personally, I think Rent sends a great message. For those who don't like it, I understand that and respect that.
If Rent closed, I believe this message board would be torn apart by the endless rants complaining and sobbing about Rent closing. A large bomb would metaphorically have been dropped on the Rent fans.
"do you think the producers realize how many suicides they will cause if/when the closing notice goes up!? seriously, it could get ugly."
That is the most stupidest thing i have even read,if people are willing to kill themselves over this show.
It should have happened a long time ago, cause really it is a piece of outdated boring crap.
And what is even worse is that peoples life's revoles around this, is just too scary and maybe suicide is the answer.
