Posted: 8/1/05 at 10:38pmDue to purely selfish reasons (I will now be in the country when it opens), I am extremely excited about this. Do you have a source, though?

Oh, gotcha.
I see it!
Actually, now that I realize it's just the wide release, it seems like it's not a big deal. It'll still open on 11/11 in major cities.

2. Great buckets of Spoffnor, they're going to sing!
3. "I love shrubs that are historical." -Johnny and The Sprites
4. "We're not singing it to you, we're singing it for us." -Rosario Dawson, about La Vie Boheme
5. "The best moments in reading are when you come across something - a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things - which you had thought special and particular to you. And now, here it is, set down by someone else, a person you have never met, someone even who is long dead. And it is as if a hand has come out, and taken yours." -The History Boys
6. "Pass the parcel. That's sometimes all you can do. Take it, feel it and pass it on. Not for me, not for you, but for someone, somewhere, one day. Pass it on, boys. That's the game I want you to learn. Pass it on." -The History Boys

If it is only open in the cities currently listed (maybe there will be a list like w/Phantom that includes more cities? I really hope so!), its not open on 11/11 in major cities. Unless Chicago isn't a major city... and we may not be LA or NYC, but I think that we're the 3rd most major city in the states. And I think we deserve RENT (not just b/c I live here... I mean, it seems really unfair tha the big city on the East Coast gets it, the big city on the West Coast gets it, and the big city in the middle is left out). *is bitter* But, on the bright side, the 23rd is closer to my birthday. For some reason, that consoles me...

Posted: 8/2/05 at 9:04pmhmmm does that mean that it will still play on 11/11 in Westchester? The suburbs surronding NYC?
#13re: RENT release change
Posted: 8/2/05 at 9:15pmFor once in my life I can honestly say I'm glad I live in LA. :-P
#14re: RENT release change
Posted: 8/2/05 at 9:18pmI'm fairly sure it'll open in Chicago...it seems odd they would just leave out the middle section of the US.
#15re: RENT release change
Posted: 8/2/05 at 9:22pmI am so disappointed, because now I'll be out of the country when it opens and I won't get to see it until the 27th!
#16re: RENT release change
Posted: 8/2/05 at 9:23pmYeah my guesses would have been Chicago, NYC, LA and perhaps a few others in the US.
#17re: RENT release change
Posted: 8/2/05 at 9:27pmI guess I will be heading up to NYC November 11th. [It says on the offical website NY, LA, and Toronto] and maybe then I can see another broadway that day too.

Posted: 8/2/05 at 10:49pmit is good and bad. Good because I will be out of classes that day. bad because we have to wait that much longer... it is all equal in my eyes.

Posted: 8/2/05 at 10:51pmIt's a bummer to me, but I'm honestly not surprised that this happened. I will see the movie when it comes out in my area, so I guess patience is a virtue. At least they announced it far in advance.
#20re: RENT release change
Posted: 8/2/05 at 11:39pmDamn he fact that I don't live in a major city!
#21re: RENT release change
Posted: 8/3/05 at 12:55amUgh, I bet they push it back even further for over here as well.
