Now, now, play nice everyone.
What cute pictures! That's great!
Very cool!
(But, it doesn't really look like him, no? His face has more character, the drawing is rather plain.)
I totally agree. It almost looks more like the character 'Bobby', as apposed to Raul, if that makes sense? (More stoic, maybe? I don't know, it's late...)
I totally get what you're saying. If I saw that drawing in the resturant, I'd immediately think "wow 'Bobby' from Company," but I don't know if I'd connect it to Raul. Just Bobby in general.
(I think it actually looks more like him in the second pic where the drawing is a bit smaller.)
Still, what a wonderful honor! Congrats!

I think it only looks like him if you know who it is supposed to be. Updated On: 5/23/07 at 02:08 AM
They didn't draw Raul, they drew Bobby. Too bad.

Aw, it's too flattering. It looks a bit like him. Just idealized and conventionalized into oblivion. Like the Bobby Ken Doll based vaguely on Raul's Bobby.
(...Company Barbies would be awesome, by the way. If I'd had them when I was 8 I'm sure my Bobby and Joanne would be in a constant staring competition, and my Marta and April would have taken up with each other.)

Heh, it's funny you mention Barbies. The production of Company in Seattle last year had Bobby playing around with a Barbie doll during the pot scene.
It really does not look like him.
Remember when Sardi's caricatures used to be caricatures?
They left out Raul's adorably round cheeks
(on his face, pervs!)
I agree with many of you.
I would only know it was supposed to be Raul if I was told it was!
The first thing I thought was...The artist had this picture lying around in a drawer somewhere just waiting for someone who alomost looks like it to become famous enough to use! HAHA!
That is definitely not a caricature, it's more of a portrait. It looks as if the artist took the photo of Raul as Bobby and simply duplicated it. The orientations of his hair, eyes, and lips are virtually identical.
But kudos to Raul for finally receiving this, he has more than earned it!
Congrats to Raul. I agree it doesn't look like him. The artist gave him pointy ears. If the hair were black and had bangs it would look like Mr. Spock. He even has the pitched eyebrow.
How exciting for him! I think I would've preferred a true caricature, to be honest. It's cute... doesn't really look that much like him, and it has elf ears, but cute. Congrats to him, though, it's an honor no less.
Oh, and isn't it ironic, CPD, that you were the first comment and not me? Stop flattering yourself, you only make yourself look like an idiot. In some ways, I almost envy the oblivion it must take to think that I somehow epitomize fangirl behavior when better specimens are all around you, but we could never count on you to be too accurate or aware of what you're talkng about, could we? But hey, I'd rather have a "chip in my head," which, oh, shockingly makes no sense than be an attention whore with a mental age of eight and my head up my ass, who tries to ruin every thread that might be enjoyable with argument-starting sabotage. You have no idea who I am, and you're miserably immature. With age comes bitterness for certain, though perhaps neither wisdom nor maturity.
I definitely agree with all of you about it looking more like the character of Bobby than of Raul Esparza.
Good drawing, though.
When did they stop doing true caricatures? I was looking forward to seeing Raul in "Sardi's" mode. I am sorry they didn't draw him smiling - so much harder to capture but more like him than Bobby.

Has there ever been anyone who made them do their caricature over? I agree that it looks more like a portrait than a caricature, and it looks like him but doubt I'd know who it was supposed to be if I didn't see him standing right next to it.
I'm happy he got one, but that drawing looks NOTHING like Raul. Nothing.
It doesn't remind me of any Bobby either. It looks to me like a mediocre drawing of a man. I wonder why they don't have a good caricaturist? They aren't hard to find!
