Looks like Raul may have a new film project on his hands. He may be working in the new Wes Craven horror movie 25/8 as a serial killer who haunts 7 small-town teens.

I don't think he'd be "starring," per se; from reading some other stuff about the film, it sounds like the teenagers are the actual leads in the film, and the killer is actually a smaller part. You know, all of the Hollywood horror clichés of serial killing; you hear about the killer for an hour before you see him. Then you hear his voice when he makes a bunch of scary phone calls. Then you see -- gasp! -- his TOES!
But anyway, as far as Raúl's potential attachment to the project, well, no comment.
"Starring" may not be quite the word you're looking for. While it's a key role, he probably won't have much screen time. His character will be talked about more than he'll be seen.
The teenagers are the stars of the movie.

Fine then, it's been changed. Gosh I didn't realize it was such a big deal.
Either way, the movie doesn't sound very good.
He can definitely looked crazed, so I say "go for it."
Dude, nobody was attacking you. Just saying that it was overstating a little bit. Relax.
Trust me, the tone of my post was mocking the genre, not taking stabs at you.
"taking stabs"
nice turn of phrase there emcee, very appropriate, all things considered - ha!
Oh my gosh, I didn't even realize that. Heh!
(Perhaps I should have pretended it was intentional and just taken credit anyway!
)
I find it kind of sad that a lot of talented actors seem to get stuck in roles and movies like this. But then, maybe I'm biased because I don't like horror movies. I guess for all I know, this could be his dream role!
Well, at least he's doing a Wes Craven picture, which generally are rather entertaining. 'course, that's because quite a few of them make fun of the horror genre. But still, A Nightmare on Elm Street was pretty badass.
Wes hasn't made a real quality horror movie in a long time... nothing close to ELM STREET.
You guys.
The Hills Have Eyes.
Enough said.

I really liked Red Eye. If it's something like that and Raúl is playing the Cillian Murphy role it may not be so bad.
Can the zombie play the kazoo? Recipe for terror, obviously!
I agree with CatsNY...and with the general sentiment about how sad it is. But, it'll give him exposure, and that's never a bad thing..I guess.
And I mean...we all know he can be intense...so...it fits
I don't think it's sad, per se, because (possibly) taking one role doesn't mean he's falling back on film or resorting to Hollywood. He's one of the most sought-after, often-working actors on Broadway. And while I obviously can't speak with any authority on it, I just... I can't see him ditching theater for Hollywood indefinitely. Hollywood is a director's and producer's medium. It's not for actors. Theater is for actors, and Raúl is an actor with a capital, bold-faced A. I'm all for him getting some exposure in film, because he really is quite good on camera, but my reaction is just a little bit, "... this of all things?" I'll be interested to see what he does with the role, but "Wes Craven slasher" doesn't exactly sound like the kind of film that allows for an actor to spread his wings, so to speak.
I know I said "no comment," but there you have it.
I actually completely agree with you, Emcee. I didn't really mean sad as in..."wow that's pathetic that he needs to do that," but that he's doing a horror film instead of something...dare I say..better?
I'd love to see him do more quirky things like Pushing Daisies or something more Indy.
He's going to be back on Pushing Daisies, too. But I agree, while he certainly CAN pull something like this off, I think stuff like that better suits him. And makes better use of his talent. And certainly there's something vaguely more... I don't know, artistic? I know that's being very idealistic, in a way, but yeah, I'd just rather see him do something with a little more merit to it. Yeah, there's exposure and yes, I'm sure he'll do very interesting things with this role if he takes it, but I'm still sort of meh. And I hate to be a downer because I do completely adore him.
You? No kidding!
Coulda fooled me.
Talk about being "artistic" all you want, Emcee, it's a theatre board, we're allowed to be slightly pompous and idealistic.
But yeah, I do think he will pull it off with much grace and well, but..well my first reaction to this thread was "a horror movie...really?....Really?!...he can do so much better."
I don't know...
I mean, he can definitely do crazy. Plus, this'll be a nice paycheck for him. Good for him! Even if the movie is bad, he still walks away with his Broadway reputation intact. (Roger Bart in Hostel II anyone?)

My two favorite movie (sub) genres are horror and musical, so I definitely approve of him doing a horror film.
Seems a natural fit to me. I just hope it's at all good.
I concur, Craww... I kind of love horror movies and I think Raul could totally experience a bit of catharsis by playing a total psycho.
