When I met Cerveris after Apple Tree (when everybody was flying to Kristin) and It was just him and me he said somthing to the extent of "I really should do what they do for blue man group, and have the front few rows get ponchos, and advertise that there is a spitter in the show" I laughed A LOT!

We could all just bring a Clara of Piazza sun hat and don it at the needed moments...so long as it doesn't go flying...
Has anyone observed Kelli O'Hara stage spit? That of Victoria Clark? Rebecca Luker?
Are they merely spraying in finer, less observable microdroplets?
Surely Bernadette Peters holds her spit with the guys...

Jesse Tyler Ferguson had some good distance with his spray.

I would say at least 6.

Wow. Crackerjack.
I suppose the spitting broads of the boards is just meant to be mystery...
Beat me to it OnMyWay. I was just about to say Jesse. Yea, I should have brought a poncho to spelling bee.

We better not let this secret out too far.
Persnickety audience members will start bringing personal little antibacterial room sprays for protection and squirt it towards the stage.
You know, the kind of person sitting next to you that you just want to smack one good one to knock them out for the span of the show (and enough getaway time after).

I remember Manoel commenting on Patti's makeup during the backstage "Sweeney" video, and then apologizing because he knew that he would end up spitting all over it later that evening.

There is something to be said for a distance between players while singing toward each other.
Even love longs.

on a high school band trip I was sitting 2nd row orchestra for Fiddler on the Roof... luckily I didn't get a Harvey Fierstein shower! It looked like a water bottle being sprayed at times -- overall, it was quite amusing

Are the women unseen--
or just their spit?
I mean, not even one claim that Idina spits...

I don't remember seeing Andrea Martin, Nancy Opal, etc spit. If so, it was toward other cast members (not as apparent as when Harvey Fierstein would be two feet from the edge of the stage) and the lighting didn't emphasize it - lol
being a college student, that's the only time I've been close enough to really notice. :-X
edit: it's possible shoshana bean spit some... when I think back, I've got a gut feeling that I remember noticing even just the slightest bit.

I must be losing it. Every time I see this thread on the main board, I read the title as "Real Actors Do Splits".

VonTussleGirl, I read the same thing the first time I saw it!
I blame summer break.
I think the same thing, VonTussle. And I have even commented on it a few times!

I blame too many bananas.
Has anyone observed a female actor a-spitting her way across the stage?
I've been racking my brain trying to recall an actress spitting as much as their male counterpart.
Not a one. Not even Elaine Stritch. Or Bea Arthur. Well, I've seen them spit, but not on stage...
Tom, you are fantastic.

Are female actors more secretive about their onstage spray?
Currently, Isabel Keating is quite a sprinkler as Velma in Hairspray.

Ahah!
Leave it to Hairspray to bring out the best in them.
You have my favorite signature on the Board, SNLMedia. I'd steal it if I wasn't so original.
I agree! Love your signature SNL. What's it from, or better are you that clever and bitchy?

I'll betcha Lilias White can spray it out four feet on stage.

God, I hope you're still talking about spit!
I've seen strange things in Bangkok...different kind of spitting to be sure.
