I didn't say it was nor imply [I don't think] that it was "confirmed". I just heard it TWICE in one night by these people.

Cry Baby has the theater the deal in done.
They might move up the opening date to February but they were planning on March...
My guess is that one of the producers said something to Riedel (threatened to sue maybe?) about him publishing that Drowsy will close when nothing has been said to even the cast, so he had to say that it isn't closing....

There are also rumors, specifically on he Television Without Pity site, of bringing Marie Osmond in.
I'd love to see he on Broadway, but not in that role not if it's in any danger of closing anytime soon. I though she was awesome in 'The King and I" and it still closed three months after she came in.

Marie needs to spend more time with her 37 children.
Her and Donny are on every Entertainment show.
Chill.
Who's Cindy?
Adams or Williams?
Cindy Adams is ofren Drowsey.

Drowsy isn't closing in January, that is what put Riedel's butt in a sling and why he had to publicly apologize. Read, please.
Cry Baby isn't coming up until March or at least until Bob Saget's contract is up sometime in February. There is no official date because there is no official closing yet. Not too difficult to figure out.
Cry Baby is following Drowsy whenever it decides to leave. That is just the way that it goes. Of course unless Drowsy has an option to extend? Stranger things have happened. This is Broadway.
Wow neddyfrank, you have personally made me not like Cry Baby. You should work in PR. Already, I feel sorry for this upcoming show.

Yeah, the Liza thing has zero chance of happening. Although I'd kill to see her do a few weeks in ANY show. She can play Roger or Mark, she can do a stint as Roxie or Velma, she can be announced for Hatchet Face in Cry- Baby... I don't care! I WOULD LOVE TO SEE LIZA BACK ON BROADWAY.
Or if not Broadway... what if Encores summer season did The Rink WITH CHITA AND LIZA REPRISING THEIR ORIGINAL ROLES?!?!?! I CAN'T EVEN ARTICULATE HOW EXCITED I'D BE.
Le sigh. I get a little over- excited. Liza rules.
Drowzy with a 'Z' WOULD be a great slogan...

Taking The Drowzy Chaperone seriously? I mean, seriously!?! Anyone who takes this show seriously must have MIC (drowzy owns syndrome) syndrome! Every show from now on must include a five minute DVD spot for Dr. Phil or better yet, Joan Rivers, as a public service message for any "poor unfortunate soul" (disney owns quote), who is suffering from MIC (saa) syndrome.
Chason, I really am pulling for you here. Get some help! First see the Drowzy Chaperone and then watch the video. This show was created especially for people like you who take life way too seriously. I hope you enjoy the show! Don't forget to watch the video afterwards though. okay?

When Liza starts as Drowzy, the Man in Chair has got to be Jim J. Bullock so we can all witness the biggest CAMP-FEST ever right there in the theater!
WOOHOO!!!!!!!!! SIGN ME UP!!!!!!!!

Jim J. would be so funny as MIC. He really does know how to steal a moment. It would be such a Diva fest! They really would be fighting each other for the spotlight.
Just imagining "As Stumble Along" with Liza trying to sing it and Jim J. making fun of her the whole time. They might be pulling hair by the end of the song. Bottles flying everywhere. You would need one of those plastic shields or a Martini Glass to avoid getting splashed on. They could sell the Martini Glasses as a fund raiser just for the sport of it all. I swear, throw around Vodka and somebodys got to be there.

I am really glad to know that I can upset you so easily! I mean just by me saying that Drowsy is closing and that Cry Baby will take the theater, I have made you hate the show!!!
It's funny that you date hate Kevin McCollum, Roy Miller, Boyett Ostar Productions, Stephanie McClelland, Barbara Freitag or Jill Furman for you know, CLOSING THE SHOW. But instead you hate me and Cry Baby because I posted that they were taking the Marquis!
How mature!
WOW!

I call it the way I see it. I would question your own Maturity but that would take too long of a post, even for me!
Of course I could just post what the LA Times said about Cry Baby but that would just seem mean. I have made my point and yes, not because of what you posted just now but because of your poor attitude toward those who work for Drowzy. The staff at the Marquis deserve better than this.
It is not anything the Producers of Drowzy have done but what you have said in the past and your overblown sense of worth that has struck down the show for me. All you have done is try to spread rumors and say things that really weren't true in your own best interest.
So what can I say? The truth hurts.

Well kids, I just got back from the last Cry-Baby preview (matinee). It opens tonight....
All i can say is WOW WOW WOW!
First of all, it's a very strong contender for best musical and for getting the most Tony nominations. It has a fantastic book co-written by Thomas Meehan based on John Waters' film, a wonderful period pastiche score with funny lyrics, a fantastic ensemble cast and great athletic choroegraphy.
This show will most likely garner Tony nominations for sets, music, book and choreography and will lend supporting noms for Harriet Harris (who's hysterical as the wasp grandmother) and Chester Gregory (who plays Dupree, Cry-Baby's sidekick).
Elizabeth Stanley and James Snyder who are the leads are both excellent- but the show is presented as an ensemble piece rather than focusing on the two leads.
Is the show perfect at this point? No, the first act needs to be tightened and the character arc of the female lead from a square to a drape needs to be further developed. All these are minor quibbles, however, and should be easily fixed before the show comes to Broadway. I talked to Thomas Meehan at intermission and he characterized the show as a "very much a work-in-progress".
My predictions are for at least 6 Tonys in the bag: Best Musical, Best Score, Best Book, Best set design, Best choreography and a Tony for Chester Gregory for best supporting actor.

Great review!
Tkt2Ride- I think it is funny that you think I have taken a poor attitude towards the people who work for DrowSy. I actually loved the show and I think the cast and creative team is extremely talented. You just hate it when I bring up that Drowsy will close and Cry Baby will take it's theatre because you have some weird love affair with that show!

It's tacky to post a review of one show in a thread about another. Especially under these circumstances. BroadwayBaby6, please show some respect by deleting your "review" and posting it in the Cry-Baby review thread (there are a couple fo them) or start your own, if you like. I just think this is mean-spirited and inappropriate.

And back at you . . .
And how harsh! I thought "blacklisting" was cruel and unusual punishment for stating an opinion. Last time I checked we had some sort of "freedom of speech" in this country.
>> *prints headshot and includes it in blacklist file*
I guess I was mistaken [about freedom of speech], and that the Dark Ages were over. I guess if Foster has any say, it is the Dark Ages! Soon we can expect witch/heretic burnings in Times Square; and I am sure Foster would make the first victim.
>> *copies and pastes incomprehensible attitude-filled posts
>> revealing her true inability to work well with others*
I work great with others! I am known for my team-player attitude. I just don't like it when it seems words have been posted about what I said or didn't say.
I didn't use to the word "confirmed". I said I heard something [from a stagedoor staff member and an actor in the show], that is all; and I stated the sources of that information [more than once now, obviously].
Thus, I became defensive when I felt I was personally mis-quoted.

I don't mean to come off bitchy but, I thought that this thread was about Reidel correcting his column to say that he wrongly reported that Cry Baby would be taking the Marquis and Drowsy will be staying open.
That would include Cry Baby...
