Liza as the chaperone. OMG. That would be brilliant. It seems almost too good to be true.
Btw, have the lease papers been signed by Cry-baby? I thought it just a theatre they wanted but didn't have a committment for yet.

Posted: 11/16/07 at 2:17pmI'm guessing he is joking even though it would be so, so, so fantastic (and I'm not a Liza fan but, I mean, come on...she could literally walk onstage from off the street and be sheer perfection) but I also came in here to say that the 'Who put the Z in DrowZy?' tagline made me laugh for a good five minutes. Love it!

I normally try not to get involved in such wishful thinking, but this time it's SPECTACULAR!
There really is nobody better to play that role than Liza, now, is there?
GENIUS!
Dear Liza, cancel those European concerts and come home to Broadway! What a great way to go out!

Cry Baby does have a contract per NeddyFrank- though I don't know if it has a clause in it for a start date. He said Cry Baby isn't coming until March.
I questioned before the stagedoor guy and even an Actor because she was asking for someone in particular. Beth, who wasn't feeling so great a couple of weeks ago, so I wasn't surprised she might decide to pull out when the show is near the end. So, she might be leaving, it depends, this is not a fact. They have a really cranky stagedoor guy compared to the rest of the staff. Take him away from his television and he gets annoyed. I would not trust a thing he says.
The Actor may have just felt annoyed or heard rumors. Unless someone issues something official, I call the Theatre. They are under some obligation to tell the truth since they are the ones who have to issues refunds. The Marquis would not confirm and stated they were selling tickets well into February.
So though it will be something great for Liza to come in, she could do a short stunt until March, that is some wicked rumor and yeah, I'll do my best to see that. So is Cindy confirmed as Tottendale? That would be fun. I was getting a little nervous, though intrigued, by what part if any Penny Marshall could play? Cindy has some experience from playing on the tour of Grease it seems? Drowsy has a great solo. It would be sad if someone who couldn't sing it took the part. Slurring though, really is a requirement though.
Liza I feel is a wicked rumor Riedel is spreading to make up for his unconfirmed comment. Probably from that Actor friend poor Ang ran into after the show.
So no matter who they get, it will probably be short lived I'm afraid. It will only go past the beginning of March unless there is a clause in Cry Baby's contract that it can be delayed which I really doubt. Though, if they can break Actor's contracts, Mara's was to go on until at least June, they could delay someone else's. I just really doubt that will be the case with Drowsy. It would however serve someone right for claiming Cry Baby would push out Drowsy. Drowsy has already paid back it's debts and has been racking in the dough. Not like Wicked or Jersey Boys but a far cry from what the Pirate Queen fell too. Terrible example and bad karma on someone's part for their show.
When Drowsy leaves it will be as a successful show with a great cast and run on Broadway.
So, see it when you can and don't wait until March. Anything after the end of February would be, well, interesting.

Posted: 11/16/07 at 3:43pmShows move. Deal. Don't any of you guys read IBDB. Most shows before the 80's played three either progressively smaller or bigger theaters during their run. Damn Phantom monopolizing the Majestic.

There's a reason why the only shows that have moved in the past 10 or so years have been Chicago, Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King.
For a commercial venture that isn't corporation-sponsored, it's too expensive to move a show. Back in the 80s, when producing a show was cheaper, it was more financially feisable to move. Now, it's just more money to recoup.

Shows move, deal. ? With what? Drowsy moving? No news of that yet. I'll deal with what is the truth. IMDb is hardly considered a completely reliable source of information. Where have you been?
I think Cindy will be a great addition to the Show and I hope she will knock them out. I would have laughed quite a bit even if Penny M came in as Tottendale. I never considered that part required great singing. The Comedy was always it's strongest part. I will be sorry to miss JoAnne. I saw an understudy when I flew out there to see it. She was great and I am looking forward to seeing Georgia when she comes to California!
As for Phantom, just deal with it, shows move on, when they feel like it or quit making enough money to justify staying. It is all up to the Theatre and Production Company.
Drowsy with a "Z" would be so clever! I like it!

Well, the word is "hope," which could mean they are going to ask her, not that she's even available.
It would be great, though. After all, she's not only a legend but a Broadway legend at that. This role could also be a good size for her.

Sorry FOAnatic- You know now, I'm on that bandwagon too! It's Drowzy Chaperone time! That would be wicked if they stole Liza from another Tour. It would really give those papers something to write about.
I doubt Drowzy will tranfer to another Theatre. It might but I agree Yankeefan, it is too expensive. I just want them to have their time and to leave as they should, in their alloted schedule. I have no problem with Cry Baby coming in. When it is their turn to play.
Thank you jaystarr ~ I think you write great reviews.

I'll have what he's having.
But seriously, if they ever announced this I would buy a plane ticket the minute I heard.
Fun fact: Liza was at Drowsy's opening night.
