* "The Drowsy Chaperone" has not, as wrongly reported here on Wednesday, announced that it will close in January. In fact, sources say, its producers hope to entice Liza Minnelli into the role of the boozy title character sometime in 2008.

Having heard that Drowsy did not get their closing notice makes be believe that many people here simply have an agenda. C'mon people...only speak when you really know something. Posted: 11/16/07 at 11:04amIf they got Liza I can see the show running well into 2008 despite the rumors that Cry-Baby has the theater. Why would the owners of the Marquis opt to go with a brand new, unproven show when they could rely on a show that has proven to be a hit with a huge new star?

People are saying it's closing because it's not just coming from actors.
What is weird is that Drowsy was never under it's stop clause minimum until the week before the strike. A show has to be under for two weeks in a row for the theater owner to get them out. That means that by booking Cry-Baby they were either taking their chances that Drowsy would not do well with Bob Saget or Kevin McCollum ok'd the closing and didn't notify his cast.
