Here's my article about him:
Steven Weber Article
This paragraph was the best:
THE PRODUCERS turned out to be an incredible ten month adventure for Weber. "I'd never done anything on that scale of commitment before. Actors are a lot of things but on film and TV they're a bunch of p*ssies. In theater it's a different story. In the theater an actor is a soldier; you are in the infantry. You have to work. You cannot mess around; you can't throw hissy fits, you can't mess around and you can't give a half-assed performance. I learned invaluable lessons in the process. The biggest realization was how difficult it was to maintain your apparatus so you can sing and dance. I was proud of myself that I'd gotten dance-related injuries. I was incredibly proud of them! It was an amazing experience. Stepping into Matthew's shoes was great. I was encouraged to do some of my own things but in many instances I saw that I didn't have to because Matthew had already done them brilliantly so I incorporated those moments into my own performance."
***But how do you really feel about TV actors???
Is it sad that I don't know him from 'Wings' and 'The Shining'? I only know him from The Producers and Hair.
Steven is great, I loved him in Jeffrey ( with Debra Monk as his mom with her dirty cameo) and "wings". I think he is sooo cute and talented. Good read Dollypop. Thanks.
I absolutely fell in love with Steven Weber when I saw the Reefer Madness movie. LOVE.
Did you really write the article?
Indeed...
His screenplay and performance in Dario Argento's JENIFER is his best work to date. It is a very interesting film with a fascinating central conceit and is made on his delicate performance in a very difficult role. Plus, it's Argento!
REEFER MADNESS: THE MOVIE MUSICAL is absolutely sublime as is everyone in the film and I cannot wait to see what those guys write next (LAND OF THE KINGS, no?).
Laugh if you will, but maybe they could make THE SHINING work as a musical (King and John Mellencamp premiere their new show out of town in a few weeks, btw)... Weber could do a helluva job reprising his role as Jack Torrance.
P
I LOVE Steven Weber. Wasn't crazy about him in The Philanthropist, but that whole show was a disaster. Good article, thanks!

No, it was written by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

He was also great on Aaron Sorkin's underrated "Studio 60".
I liked him a lot in The Philanthropist!
Though I seem to be one of the few who enjoyed that production.
I fell in love with Weber due to his fantastic and genius work in the REEFER MADNESS movie, and once again during his guest stint in BROTHERS & SISTERS. He and Rachel Griffiths had so much chemistry, hot!
I hope he keeps doing theater and he has to do a musical soon.
PGenre, I believe the great REEFER MADNESS team is working on a musical adaptation of the hilarious movie HEATHERS, supposedly Christian Campbell and Kristin Bell starred in the reading.
Ray & PG,
Kevin Murphy's doing Heathers with the very talented Larry O'Keefe of Batboy/Legally Blonde fame. I'm doing something else on my own, which I am being somewhat tight-lipped about at the moment.
But Kevin *is* working with our Reefer director, Andy Fickman, on Heathers & they did recently do a reading of the first act with K-Bell & Christian, among others from the extended Reefer family.
Dan
Dan, thanks for clarifying. I can't wait to see both works!

he was in the cast of a revival of Hair in recent years in L.A.
What role did he play in HAIR?

I frankly don't remember, tho a lead, i'm thinking Claude. i could be totally wrong, but if i remember correctly, the prod got good reviews all around.
I enjoyed The Shining with Steven in the title role about a million times better than the Stanley Kubrick version with Jack Nicholson.
The book is King's best, in my opinion. I don't think Kubrick did it justice.
Weber was excellent, very scary. Now I need to dig the tape out.

He played Berger, and Sam Harris played Claude

OT, but...@ BlueforBroadway. Kubrick's film is far superior to King's book.
I used to have the biggest crush on Steven when he was on Wings. I was so jealous of Helen's sister when she started dating him! Love him in Reefer Madness. Oh and his death by stiletto in Single White Female, tragic.

It is sad that you missed "Wings" a pretty consistently funny sit com. But I guess you're really just bragging that you're a THEATRE person and therefore wouldn't be watching television.
Great interview!
He was the best part of Sorkin's Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.

TalkinLoud, personally, I hated Kubrick's take on Stephen King's novel. I couldn't feel anything for the characters. I did for King's version. King didn't much care for Kubrick's version, either.
The Shining is my favorite Steven King book. I love his books and am a constant reader.
I digress. Thanks for posting your interview, Dollypop. Very nice.

You're very much welcome.
I appreciate the fact that so many people have taken the time to read the article. It's fairly lengthy.
