That's what the whole movie cast has been saying.
But, then again, they can't know for sure until they really see the film. A lot can be screwed up in the editing room.

Right, none of them have seen it yet.

If they haven't yet, they should be seeing it soon.

I personally would trust Adam's opinion of the movie over the pessimists here.

I trust him. With all of my heart. And that's not just because he's pretty. If he believes in this, then I'll be damned if I don't as well. The moment my mind changed was when I saw the smile on his face watching Anthony's What You Own playback on the monitors; I'll never forget it.

I was actually informed that they haven't seen it yet - by them. No ifs about it.

That's fine. You do that.

Then they will be seeing it soon. There's not a definite date, but their turn is coming.

...Because of COURSE if it weren't faithful he'd say "No, the film is not faithful to the show at all."
Of course the castmembers are going to say its faithful. It's likely that it's true, but it validates nothing.

I don't see the point of the article. Why ask and answer the question of whether the show is "faithful" for the gazillionth time? I could think of a million other burning questions.

Neither do I, but in that sense, the publicity's gonna become pointless really fast. The same questions are going to get asked over and over again - each just a different means of travel for the information.

if the film was faithful the track list would be too...

CATS, come on. It can still be faithful without being exact.

Reporters should go straight to Anthony, as he's the one with a knack for answering questions before they're even asked (to our pleasure). I think he'd be better at generating good press for the film than even Rosario.

I agree, even if only because he's probably the most well-spoken of the bunch. A very, very good interview subject.

It's not as if they're going to put the fans off by saying that it's radically different.
Dumb question.

I agree. It can be faithful without being exact..
The CHICAGO flim is very faithful to the original production's book. But they did cut a lot of songs, but it was still faithful. The only major change was the trial scene.
So Rent may be the same way.

I wish they would interview Anthony more often. Unfortunately, I think that if they're going to do individual publicity (David Letterman, Jay Leno, etc.) they'll probably go with Rosario almost exclusively. It's Hollywood, big names are more important to them than people that are well-spoken. Look who their governor is.

Well, Rosario is well-spoken too. My point is that Anthony's the most likely to divulge new information.

Oh, I didn't mean it as an insult to Rosario. I just meant that the other actors, like Anthony or Adam or Jesse, may be more well-versed in the movie and the show's history, and would be able to promote it just as well as she would, but may not be given the chance because they're not "experienced".
I'm thinking more of future publicity on TV and stuff, not wanting them to drop hints about the movie now.

when adam was on the view to promote civilian they didn't even let him talk, just sing...
if that's any clue... however since he's the "hot boy" it will most likely be him before the rest.
((edit)) by rest i mean the rest of obc

All I gotta say is look at the CABARET movie (also starring an original), the CHICAGO movie (with an original making a cameo), PHANTOM, etc.
They are ALL different from the stage shows...I know RENTheads want to see this go down as close as possible (let's coin ACAP)...but changes will be made. This isn't a video of the stage show.
Anyway, point is, the movie may stay faithful, but there will be changes. We just have to accept it and move on and be thankful we were able to see a live production of the original staging of the show (be it tour or on Broadway)...or that we still have a chance to see it...AND that we get most of the OBC in the film.
