"Denghi" is one of the words that is given to one of the audience members that is called up on stage.
Al Sharpton was just being an audience member, so he isn't actually in Spelling Bee, it was just for the Tony's.

there really was none. he has nothing to do with the show. lol. now everybody thinks he does.
I am still trying to figure out how this man has one ounce of credibility left
Why?
im still trying to figure out that why after all the people they could have picked, they picked al sharpton. i think they did it on purpose to get a lot of people talking about it. lol.
I think they should have picked someone randomly from the audience.
Or Carol Channing. I like that idea.

All I can say is that he looked like he didn't have any fun up there.
Lament, I would have given anything if the guest speller had been Carol Channing. Why weren't you the producer of last night's Tonys?
Maybe they couldn't get Fuffy-Fuffy and they settled for Al Sharpton Updated On: 6/6/05 at 07:22 PM
I thought they should have called up 4 celebs (my dream spellers: Idina, Erin Dilly, Norbert, Sara Ramirez) but Sharpton (as much as I hate him) was very funny. When they called his name, the people around me were find of laughing but in an "I dont get it kind of way" until he actually came out LOL.
hahaha id love to see norbert and idina doing the spelling!!
yeah al didnt seem to enjoy himself at all. they definitely couldve picked somebody wayy better.

I think Al DID have fun up there. One of the funniest things was that he kept a straight face. When he sat back down in his seat in the audience he had a HUGE smile on his face. I thought it was genius to get someone so serious and well respected to participate in such a fun and silly performance.
Even though I love Idina, I don't think that it would have been nearly as funny with her up there. Everyone knows Idina has a sense of humor. As you could see in the pre-broadcast when she was handing out the Tonys, she is very cute. And with the,
"I like chocolate."
"I like cheese,"
dance that she and JLT did on the stage at Wicked, we know that she can be silly.
Like I said, I thought it was great to have someone so straight-laced and serious up there with all the neurotic "kids." I especially loved, "He is running for class president on a campaign of racial equality and mac and cheese." :)
Em-Lee I don't think Al Sharpton is well respected by anyone who remembers his past.

I think he is repsected more now than he was before.
And I still believe that he was surprising and funny choice.
