Revival cd's that are better than the OBC's

I was listening to my favorite tracks on the "how to succeed" revival cd yesterday, after not hearing it in a long, long while. It is one of the best revival cd's of all time, IMO. I think that the original, while great for history's sake, has nothing on this recording, with all the new orchestrations. My favorite track is "Brotherhood of Man" with Lillias White Scatting her brains out. I can listen to that song ten times and not get tired of it.
anyway, in your opinion, what are some of the other revival cast recordings that surpass the originals?

I simply can't think of any. Originals have a freshness and newness that revivals can't possibly mesure up to. (This has been my experience)
Just my opinion, I may be wrong.

Posted: 2/8/06 at 6:11pmHow can one say the Revival Cast Album of Chicago is better than the original? Yes, it's nice to hear some additional material and it is a very good album, but come on...You can't get much better than Verdon, Rivera and Orbach.

Man of La Mancha. Stokes is AMAZING.
Little Shop of Horrors. I now can't listen to the original. All that electronic keyboard noise and monotone singing can't compare to the new album.

Posted: 2/8/06 at 9:25pmGenerally speaking, I prefer revival recordings because if it's an old show, the OBC usually doesn't have a good enough sound quality. Some of the recent "remasterings" of recordings have changed that though.
