Two annoying, old fat men in a play about being old and annoying? I'll pass.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

I would love this! But can Danny do eight shows a week and be disciplined enough for it? He's a really nutty guy. lol

They certainly can't be worse than Dick and Jerry van Dyke were.

Just out of curiosity, what does their weight have to do with anything, AC? Because that comment makes you sound pretty ignorant.

And how you find Richard Griffiths annoying is beyond me...

^ Their weight has no bearing on their acting abilities, for sure, but it's an undeniable statement that both men are on the portly side. Griffiths himself has referenced his weight several times in interviews, even calling himself (IIRC) an "old fat guy" in one. So, it's not like their weight is some secret that they're not in on.

And how you find Richard Griffiths annoying is beyond me...

Then I suppose it will continue to be beyond you, but I do.

I just think that their size should have no bearing on your opinion of whether or not you want to see the show. I'm a big guy -- and I think that Melissa MacCarthy's success should be a wake-up call for a lot of people. Size shouldn't matter. Sorry to threadjack. Continue the conversation.

I love Richard Griffiths, so I can't really see that. But I can see thinking Danny is annoying. Though I do love me some Mr. Wormwood!

Do I want to see a very gentile British actor portray a quintessentially Jewish New Yorker? No thanks.

Trash,

Having seen Griffiths in THE HISTORY BOYS and EQUUS, I've come to the realization that he does nothing for me. I'm one of the few who loathed the former play, and especially both his character and the way he played it. I just find nothing about him appealing. Paired with DeVito, whom I find repugnant, basically guarantees I won't be seeing this production.

AC was not being size-ist. SHEESH. He was simply saying he's not interested in a play with two old fat dudes being annoying. Lord have mercy. I'm overweight and I never though AC had a bone to pick with plus size people. No need to get on the Melissa McCarthy soapbox. And if you want to be perfectly honest, her size will limit her future projects. She may have things written for her but her size limits her range. Thats not me being mean-thats the biz. If size doesn't matter why is she significantly scaled down/photoshopped in all the Bridesmaids posters and promo materials and the Mike & Molly promo materials. They trim a fair amount off of her. Its a sick world we live in.

I second that you couldn't pay me to sit through this and in all honesty I don't think these men would pack the house. DeVito's star has cooled considerably.

I can't bare Griffiths. I did like him in Equus but that about all and Ive seen him in a lot.
