Has anyone had any experiences yet with Ricky after the show? Will he sign for fans? Anyone know what the running time is for the show so far?
For evening's, line up at least by 9:50. When I stage door'd it last night after the show. I got out by 10. I left as soon as it ended not after or during curtain call. It was not crowded when I got out but the front of the barricade was full. 5 minutes later it was Daniel Radcliffe all over again. I figure a lot of the crowd later was passerby's from St pattys day and those exiting lion king. He came out about 1/2 an hour after the show ended and signed for at most 10-15 people (including me) before leaving. A lady had his autobiography in front of his face and he didn't sign it, but there was a lot of stuff in front of his face so maybe he didn't see it. So definitely have a poster/playbill from the show.

I am never one to post anything bad but I have to let you know of such an upsetting experience with Ricky Martin. My sister had purchased tickets for me and my 10 year old daughter to see Evita because we are huge Ricky Martin fans. We were at the 2:00 show today. We got to the theater early and decided to see where the stage door was located for later. We saw 5 other girls waiting so I said to my daughter let's wait and see by chance if we see Ricky Martin go in. It was cold and we waited for about 1 1/2 hours. the other girls left and I said to my daughter let's just wait 5 more minutes before we go into the theater. The show as at 2:00 and it was almost 1:45.
Who do we see walking up to the door Ricky Martin. We were so excited we asked him to sign my daughter's playbill he said I'm sorry but I can't. I said you can't just sign one autograph he said I am late it is already 1:45 you have to understand. I said just for heryou can't sign? he gave her a kiss on the cheek and proceeded to go in. I stood there shocked. Someone that I followed for years wasn't what I thought he was. One of the men he was with said we are sorry from the bottom of our heart. Really??? You do that to a child.
We were so upset we couldn't even enjoy the show. I felt like my heart was so heavy how could he be that way. Seeing him over the years I would never expect that. After the show my daughter asked if we could go back again to see him. Come to find out Ricky Martin does not come out in between shows.
My thoughts on him are so different now.
He doesn't have to sign playbills. Get over yourself.
Of course he didn't sign for you! 1:45? that's really late! Actors usually have a half-hour call. If he wasn't a celebrity they might reduce his pay or even fire him if he came in 15 before the show every day. Also, he kissed her on the cheek?! Do you realize how many people would KILL to have Ricky Martin kiss them on the cheek? If you're such fans of him, you should realize that that's much more special than getting a silly autograph. You shouldn't think badly of him at all because of this. most actors don't sign before the show, especially if they are late. the fact that he talked to you at all, and even gave your daughter a kiss shows that he is, in fact, much nicer than a lot of other celebrities! I don't mean to be rude, but you just seem very ungrateful to me.

sunshineleopard - If you were that offended by Ricky Martin not stopping to sign a Playbill, then you can't handle what's about to come your way in terms of replies to your post. My suggestion: don't open this thread up again!

Yeah, sorry to sound like a jerk, but your ticket price doesn't include an autograph, nor does his salary include signing autographs. And his call is 1:30, so if it was 1:45 he was running late already.
So how would you feel if every day thousands of people lined up outside your work asking for autographs when you were running late?

I don't think I need to get over myself. I just felt bad for my daughter.
Because she got kissed by Ricky Martin? Poor her!

I guess unless you were in the situation you may feel differently. I am not in the theater business so i didn't think two seconds would effect anything. Yes I am glad my daughter did get a kiss. It's a kid that he denied not me.
Who cares? She didn't get an autograph. If it's an adult or kid doesn't matter. He was late.

Yes I did join today because I had something to write. I have read many reviews over the years on this site.
But, it doesn't make Mr. Martin a bad person like you are making him out to be. Like other people stated, he had a show to do. He doesn't owe anyone anything before a performance or for that matter after. If I were your daughter, I would be smitten and grateful that he kissed my cheek because that will probably never happen to most of us on here. Calm down mam, at least you got to meet him. Be thankful for that.

It's sad to find people don't realize that actors have their own time, too. Ricky Martin was running late--possibly because he was doing PR for this show. The show started at 2 PM and these lame brains expect the star to sign autographs and chit chat with them when he has to get into makeup, costume and in place for the curtain. Did they expect them to hold the curtain so this woman and her child could schmooze with their idol?
I think Martin was very gracious in kissing the child. It's sunshineleopard who is expecting too much.
Please, go back to Peoria or wherever you came from.

It's also silly for people to expect an actor to sign a playbill or whatever after a show.
On the other hand, it was the people from Peoria who kept Hello, Dolly! running all those years, Dollypop!

No, "I" was the one who kept HELLO, DOLLY! running all those years. If I hadn't seen the show 74 times during its original run and if countless other fanatics didn't so the same, it would have closed in 3 years. (I know--and hate--someone who saw the show 212 times!)

I never expected to get some of these messages. I was honestly voicing my experience. I guess I let my emotions take over as a parent. I guess until you run into something like this some of you may understand why I felt the way I did. I am at least happy she did get the kiss on the cheek.
So...I huge celeb (such as Ricky Martin) KISSES your daughter on the cheek. He takes the time to explain that he does not have time to sign an autograph and talk...but yet you find it "rude" and that he has no consideration? Really? Where is the logic in that?
Your daughter got a kiss on the cheek by Ricky Martin. Be happy.
What you don't seem to understand is that you have every right to be disappointed. I have been disappointed by stage dooring experiences countless times. It sucks a lot. and the bigger a fan you are, the more it sucks when it doesn't work out. but you can't blame him or call him rude or a mean person. It's not fair to Mr. Martin. It's not fair to any celebrity who skips out on the stage door. They have their reasons, and even if those reasons aren't always clear (though in this case they were pretty obvious), they are still valid and are not deserving of these petty, judgmental opinions. You were far more disrespectful to him than he was to you.
It's a pandemonium out there.

Dear sunshineleopard,
I am sooo sorry. It was my fault Ricky was running late to the show that day.
