Wow, an 8-week run in CHICAGO on Broadway and a Caricature at Sardi's. What an accomplishment! Congrats to Ms. Wilson.

Who cares? Those "caricatures" don't even resemble the person - nobody will know who it is anyway. Where is Hirschfeld when you need him? Who is doing these awful renderings now?

This is a really old tradition... but there is no reason to have Rita "Just Passing Through" Wilson up on those walls except for money and publicity.

And yes, they've lost all credibility with this gesture symbolizing any form of honor in the theatre community.

I find it sad.

EDIT: Oh... And I've seen better caricature work done by those sketch booths at Disneyland.

Sardi's has one of David Hasselhoff, Kathie Lee Gifford, and Billy Zane. Go to their website www.sardis.com, they have some recent and older caricatures on their site. Come back here and let's discuss Sardi's credibility. It's not about seasoned professionals. It's about publicity.

Such a joke ... Sardi's will put anybody's caricature up .. I think that Suzanne Somers even has one! Totally lost the glamor and exicitement of who is up on their walls. Just like the Weisslers will put anybody with a name (or who has a husband with a name) in Chicago, all you have to do to get on the wall in Sardis is star in a Broadway show for a few weeks. Its not the legendary status it once was. Now you can look at the drawings and literally never have heard of some of these people.

I think this is ridiculous. She has only been in Chicago for a few weeks. Anyway, she's only in Chicago for about 3 month's tops. It's only because she is Tom Hank's Wife.

Genius, nobody is judging Rita Wilson as a person. They're judging her career on Broadway. Until recently, she had never appeared on Broadway, ever. She makes her debut as an 8-week replacement in CHICAGO and suddenly is honored with a Sardi's caricature. That's something to make a fair argument against. And what's your side of it? She's a nice person? It sounds like you're just trying to flaunt the fact that you've met Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson before. Woohoo. Congrats. That's still no reason to justify a high Broadway honor.
