The plane thing is a risky detail to invent. There’s a lot of room for that to be discredited. In this scenario: the person who leaked it - did they know for sure that Roth was even on a plane? Or that he wasn’t sitting in the back row with no one sitting next to him?

Yeah, if I had to bet I'd say the details are accurate, but I'm still trying to figure out at what point this person figured out it was Rob Roth. Like did Roth just get spectacularly unlucky and have someone within his eye shot that recognized him? Or does the source just spy on everyone's phones when they're on a plane, and saw a Scott Rudin reference, transcribed it, and then later googled Roth?

It could be either of those, but either way it sounds like Roth was spectacularly unlucky.

This update about the uk tour makes no mention of whether or not there is a new director, only that the original creatives are still involved. So, I’m confused. Is Rob Roth still attached? Or could it be they are still using his direction but placing an associate of his in charge?

"Disney quickly announced that Roth would be replaced with director and choreographer Matt West: 'Following Rob Roth’s decision to step aside as director, Disney Theatrical Productions is pleased to announce that Matt West, original choreographer and longtime member of the Disney Theatrical family, will direct and choreograph the brand-new production of Beauty and the Beast which launches its UK and Ireland tour in Bristol this August.'"

Probably the easiest move, because whether you like it or not, I'm sure West can continue to carry on Roth's vision.
